Job description

Assistant Director Of Alumni Engagement, Student, Young Alumni, And Digital Engagement

The Assistant Director of Alumni Engagement, Student, Young Alumni, and Digital Engagement leads the College's student, young alumni, and digital community-building efforts. Serving a community of more than 14,000 alumni, this role is central to advancing meaningful connections that support the College's mission and strengthening lifelong engagement.

This position is responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive student-to-alumni engagement strategy that spans all four years of the student experience, post-graduate introduction into the Alumni Association, and beyond. The Assistant Director also oversees key digital platforms including social media and Engage.CMC, and plays a leadership role in volunteer management including co-leading the CMCAA Committees. The role contributes broadly to Alumni Association initiatives and the office's overall engagement strategy.

Reporting to the Executive Director of Alumni and Parent Engagement, the Assistant Director of Alumni Engagement, Student, Young Alumni, And Digital Engagement works both independently and collaboratively to perform the following essential duties and responsibilities:

  • Lead the design, implementation, and ongoing refinement of a comprehensive end-to-end student to young alumni engagement strategy, developing measurable initiatives that strengthen belonging, institutional connections, service, and long-term affinity.
  • Work with Alumni Association leadership, Parent Network Leadership, Annual Giving, and campus partners to design and execute a range of educational-, social-, and community-focused programs that create intentional engagement journeys that span undergraduate years through the first decade of alumni life.
  • Design and execute a comprehensive young alumni engagement strategy focused on activation and retention, peer connection, and professional networking through the 19 global chapters of the Alumni Association. Work collaboratively with engagement officers to build programming and engagement pathways that support recent graduates during key transition moments including regional relocation, early career navigation, and continued connection to the College community.
  • Provide strategic leadership for alumni-supported career engagement initiatives in partnership with the Soll Center for Student Opportunity and other relevant campus stakeholders. Strengthen alumni participation in programming that supports student success. Develop tactics to connect students with industry insight, networking access, and career community-building opportunities.
  • Support the operations and strategic initiatives of the Claremont McKenna College Alumni Association. Provide logistical, administrative, and programmatic support to volunteer leaders, including meeting coordination and execution of key initiatives, particularly those focused on student engagement and on- and off-campus programming.
  • Manage the Engage. CMC strategic plan to grow the platform as a central hub for alumni, student, and parent interaction. Oversee assessment and manage deliverables that emphasize adoption and retention, content quality, utility, and measurable user participation. Develop multi-channel digital marketing plan for Engage. CMC.
  • Provide operational support and relationship management for volunteer committees, reunion, and service leadership groups. Serve as staff liaison for designated volunteer groups including the 5-Year Reunion Committee, 50 Years of Coeducation committees, and CMCAA committees. Explore high-visibility, cross-functional initiatives that strengthen volunteerism around institutional belonging, affinity, and the student-alumni connection.
  • Participate as an active member of the Office of Alumni and Parent Engagement and the College's broader advancement efforts. Support campaigns, presidential initiatives, signature events and other strategic priorities as needed.
  • Assist in the direction and oversight of support staff.
  • Act as liaison with vendors, other College departments, and the alumni/parent relations departments of other colleges as needed.
  • Perform other duties and tasks as assigned.
