Sr. Electrical Design Engineer

Kelly® Engineering is seeking an Electrical Engineer for a direct hire position with our Simi Valley based client. If you are passionate about shaping the world we live in and are ready to reengineer your future, trust the experts at hiring experts.

$160,000-175,000

Overview

Our client develops and manufactures high-performance, custom motion control solutions for harsh environments. If you need a servo drive, actuator, or battery management system for a unique application, they’re the go-to. Their engineering team contributes to all aspects of new product development from concept through production release. Their design process is structured with designs formalized after thorough analysis.

In this role, you’ll at least 10+ years of embedded hardware development from that includes requirements definition/spec development, block diagrams, design architecture, circuit & schematic design, analysis, prototype development, test & debug. You’ll design new products, create schematics, analysis & simulation, develop prototypes, test & debug, and create engineering documentation. You’ll lead your project along with individual contributors assigned to the project. If you’re the type of engineer that prefers a structured development process, this position is right fit for you!

Responsibilities:

  • Lead teams in new product development that includes product definition, materials selection, architecture, and review activities
  • Lead recommendation and implementation of hardware solutions and improved practices
  • Develop and maintain micro-controller operated digital and analog electronics in accordance with established company methodologies and processes
  • Interface with customers to determine and define requirements
  • Guide engineering, packaging and board layout activities
  • Lead feedback discussions on hardware requirements related to design, time, feasibility, etc.
  • Work with other team members to develop complete systems (hardware and software)
  • Perform product design and development activities with a high degree of independence and creativity. Be responsible from start to finish of new product development including product definition, design, parts selection and qualification.
  • Formulate product designs using scientific analysis and mathematical models.
  • Generate engineering documentation e.g. specification, schematics, layouts, BOM and qualification reports
  • Lead the development and testing of PC graphical user interfaces
  • Follow programming guidelines and use a software version control system
  • Document test plans, test results, lead and design test stand equipment
  • Coordinate and execute hardware releases, version upgrades, and custom interfaces according to company quality assurance practices
  • Create and review design and product information including manuals and brochures for technical accuracy
  • Consult with other engineering staff to evaluate interfaces between hardware and software, and operational and performance requirements of overall system designs
  • Planning, managing and execution of multiple activities while maintaining quality requirements, budget costs and schedule milestones
  • Lead and mentor other team members


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree in Electrical, Computer Engineering or related required and 10+ years relevant experience
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Worst Case Circuit Analysis capability
  • Advance knowledge and skills in:
  • Electrical and software engineering concepts
  • Design, analysis and testing of micro-controller operated digital and analog electronics.
  • PSpice simulations
  • Embedded systems software design
  • IGBTs, Mosfets, and other power drivers and current sensors
  • Motor control systems experience
  • Release management and document control
  • Application lifecycle management
  • Analog and digital circuits
  • A/D and D/A converters
  • ORCAD or similar for schematic capture
  • FPGA and high-speed signal processing
  • Digital Signal processing, control systems and digital filters
  • Knowledge of Microsoft products including Windows 11, Power Point, Word, Excel, etc.
