Waste Technician

We have a great client looking for a Waste Technician at a landfill in Decatur, IL!

This is an onsite, 6-month contract to hire opportunity offering a starting pay rate of $20.00/hour. This opportunity is contract to hire and will convert after the initial contract period! This position requires a background check and drug screen prior to starting.

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM

Job Summary

Will be responsible for moving various waste streams including non hazardous and limited quantities of hazardous waste such as scrap wood, plastics, cardboard, and paintline waste.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Manage and organize various types of waste and recycling materials.
• Maintain accurate records and logs for all waste and recyclable materials.
• Operate forklifts and other trade tools as needed.
• Ensure compliance with protocols and procedures.
• Work cooperatively with team members and CAT employees, taking direction from the immediate supervisor.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Strong time management.
• Ability to work independently and communicate effectively.
• Physical ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
• Experience operating a forklift and other trade tools.
• This job is in the elements.
• Will work directly with senior employee to complete daily tasks.
• Safety training is provided for 2 days prior to working in the field.
