About the Role:
We are actively sourcing for a Nurse Manager Behavioral Health to join a leading hospital system in Brooklyn, NY. This is a permanent/direct hire opportunity for an experienced nursing leader ready to make a meaningful impact in a psychiatric hospital setting.
You will be responsible for the overall operations and management of a behavioral health unit, ensuring clinical excellence, regulatory compliance, and exceptional patient care 24 hours a day.
MUST HAVE: Experience managing a psychiatric/behavioral health unit in a hospital setting
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee day-to-day operations of the behavioral health/psychiatric unit
- Collaborate with the Director to ensure interdisciplinary care coordination
- Ensure compliance with NYSDOH, JCAHO, OMH, DOHMH, and Client regulations
- Lead performance improvement activities and root cause analysis
- Manage admissions, discharges, and discharge planning
- Oversee budgeting, staffing, supply, and inventory management
- Provide administrative coverage for the Nursing Department as needed
- Uphold nursing philosophy, ethical standards, and PCS Scope of Service
- Drive HCAHPS performance and best practice implementation
What You'll Need:
Education:
- BSN from an accredited Nursing School (Required)
- Master's Degree in Nursing (Preferred)
Experience:
- Minimum 5 years as a Registered Nurse
- Minimum 5 years of clinical experience in Psychiatry
- Minimum 2 years in a leadership/management role
Certifications & Licensure:
- Active NY State RN License (Required)
- BLS & ACLS (Required)
- Crisis Management PMCS or TRUST (Required)
Skills:
- Strong critical thinking, decision-making & problem-solving abilities
- Knowledge of CQI, root cause analysis, and quality improvement models
- Proficiency in electronic health records and hospital billing systems
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
