Job description
About this role Position: Permanent Part Time, 60 Hours a fortnight - Fixed hours, no fixed roster Te Whiwhinga Mahi/The Opportunity You will be an integral part of our Community team, working across multiple sites providing cover for staff Leave. This role is unique and requires someone who is flexible, adaptable and able to work AM, PM, Occasional sleepovers and Wake overs. You will be supporting clients in their own homes across Christchurch, as part of several small, dedicated teams. This role involves providing all aspects of personal care, including complex care needs, administering medication via feeding tube, tracheostomy cares, passive movements, exercises, and supporting the client to work towards their person-centred goals. Support staff will also assist with shopping, cooking, meal prep, household management tasks, including general housework and laundry. We are looking for someone who is reliable, trustworthy, and able to use good judgement while supporting clients to access their community and achieve greater independence, inclusion, and quality of life following a Spinal Cord and/or Traumatic Brain Injury. Our clients are seeking an exceptional team member where genuine and authentic connections can develop over time. The ideal person will have a good sense of humour, be fun to be around, able to manage down time effectively and be comfortable around small dogs. You will bring good insight, sound judgement, and a willingness to learn clinical tasks as part of a supportive team environment. You will ideally have: * Effective communication skills * Reliability, honesty, and trustworthiness * Good insight, initiative, and sound judgement * A willingness and ability to learn clinical tasks and follow care plans accurately * A genuine interest in supporting others * The ability to work in partnership with clients, whānau, and the wider support team * A person-centred approach that promotes independence, choice, initiation, and participation in everyday activities * Strong time management skills and the ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team * A full driver's licence * A willingness to work within the mission, vision, and values of the organisation * Previous experience in support work essential, working with people with disabilities would be advantageous, but full training will be provided Mō tatou/About us We are an independent, charitable organisation driven to help our clients achieve independence, inclusion, and quality of life after a brain or spinal cord injury.
