Job Title: Histology Tech Profession: Laboratory Specialty: Histology Tech Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 8 hours (21:00 - 05:30) Experience: Minimum of 2 years of hospital experience with grossing experience License: Valid state license preferred; pending license accepted Certifications: ASCP-HT, Associate's Degree in Science Must-Have: Grossing experience, hospital experience Description: Hospital experience is required for this position. This is a night shift position from Saturday to Thursday. Experience in grossing is a hard stop requirement. Candidates must have a minimum of 2 years of experience. Knowledge of histology procedures including embedding, microtomy, and staining is essential. Responsibilities include preparing frozen sections and mounting sections on glass slides. Candidates must be proficient in both automated and manual staining techniques. Experience with immunohistochemistry and special stains is needed. Understanding cytology skills such as preparing thin prep and cell block is preferred. This role may require floating to nearby facilities if needed. Candidates must be willing to work two out of three major holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year. References covering recent work experience are required. Candidates should be prepared to handle routine hospital anatomical pathology specimens. Excellence in quality and detail-oriented work is expected.
