Your Mission

Support mission-focused logistics operations in Norfolk, Virginia by coordinating long-lead-time material, material requirements, procurement packages, inventory, staging, storage, and logistics data in support of ship repair and maintenance. This role helps ensure material is ordered, tracked, received, documented, and available in accordance with program milestones, availability schedules, and government requirements.

What You'll Do

As a Logistics Analyst, you will support material planning, procurement coordination, inventory management, and logistics reporting through the following responsibilities:

  • Ensure all material is on order in accordance with Joint Fleet Maintenance Manual (JFMM) milestones for the 50%, 80%, and 100% Long Lead Time Material (LLTM) order dates.
  • Review work specification packages and Requests for Contract Change (RCC) to identify government-furnished LLTM via Navy Maintenance Database (NMD).
  • Review material requirements from the Third-Party Planner (3PP) in Material Requirement (MRQT) and monitor the status of LLTM, critical path material, parts, and assembly requirements provided by the 3PP.
  • Identify alternative sources when estimated delivery dates do not support start dates or availability schedules.
  • Review and technical-edit material information using technical drawings, technical manuals, and other research tools.
  • Submit required market research and develop necessary documents to complete procurement packages when the order method is open purchase.
  • Perform on-site receipt inspections to ensure proper receipt of LLTM and identify damaged or inadequate material receipts.
  • Create inventory lists for material pull and stage requirements prior to Chief of Naval Operations (CNO) availabilities.
  • Assist in staging, shipping, receiving, crating, moving, and storage of LLTM.
  • Document and monitor turnover and transfer of PCMS tiles in accordance with MARMC PCMS Tile Instruction 9740 series.
  • Assist the local storage facility during material inventory.
  • Under logistics management team oversight, work to optimize service levels, maintain supply chain efficiency, and minimize cost.
  • Provide life cycle logistics support for ship repair and maintenance.
  • Track product material requisitions, open purchase actions, and MILSTRIP flow from origin to final delivery.
  • Expedite necessary requirements and ensure follow-up MILSTRIP actions are entered for National Stock Number (NSN) material.
  • Input excess and future use material (FUM) into the government's Material Access Technology (MAT) database.
  • Create necessary documents using MAT to properly identify FUM for labeling and transition to the local storage facility.
  • Monitor material movement to ensure storage locations are updated in MAT.
  • Assist with properly identifying excess and FUM prior to inputting information into MAT, including physical sight validation at local public or private shipyards when required.
  • Recommend improvements to existing and planned logistics processes.
  • Develop and maintain models for logistics uses, including cost estimating and demand forecasting.
  • Develop reports to provide material status and produce logistics metrics.
  • Provide assistance with or develop standard operating procedures.
  • Coordinate with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and Code Managers to request necessary funding establishment.
  • Send follow-up correspondence to the maintenance team Project Manager regarding pending funding requirements to support timely purchase package preparation and forwarding to government buyers for approval and release.
  • Review drawings and cost estimates for accuracy and compliance and coordinate with the Project Manager, Shipbuilding Specialist, and other personnel to resolve issues.
