Job Summary:
The Media Delivery team at Disney Entertainment & ESPN Technologyis responsible forthe entire audio and video encoding supply chain from content acquisition to delivery for Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+. Consistingofan agile and responsive team of technicians that perform the daily processes and procedures of our live and on-demand video streaming products to deliver a high-quality experience to our viewers. The department’s responsibilities provide round-the-clock support for these products, ensuring proper functionality across all platforms and front-end playback scenarios.
The Media Delivery Operations team provides operational and procedural support for our partner products, including system health monitoring and incident management, live and VOD streaming media orchestration, and cross-team communications.
As a Media Delivery Operator, you will work with a small but dynamic team responsible for monitoring and troubleshooting the VOD ingestion pipeline.You will:
- Serve as a subject matter and technical expert for supply chain operations
- Review audio/visual content against strict deadlines
- Coordinate with external partners to fix content to ensure deadlines are met.
- Research and normalize metadata
- Create tracking tickets for assets that need remediation and follow them to completion
- Provide technicalexpertisefor content issues with A/V, XML, and timed text
- Monitor the health of the encoding pipeline and provide technical and operational support
- Identifyand triage internal incidents, escalating them to theappropriate technicalteamsin a timely manner
- Update documentation and train team members on procedures
- Provide ongoing status of the overall health of the ingest pipeline to senior staff
Responsibilities:
- Work with the larger coordinator team to ensure that assets finish the ingest pipeline, and content is reviewed andapprovedon time.
- Provide technical supportofthe ingest pipeline and supply chain.
- Troubleshoot and debug content issues andescalateasappropriate.
- Handle special projects at the request of a manager.
Basic Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years of related work experience
- Bachelor’s degree
- Background in video or film is preferred
- Strong knowledge of video codecs and encoding
- Familiarity with video streaming, specifically HLS
- Understanding of closed captions and subtitles
- Understanding of XML and/or JSON structure
- Knowledge of industry standard delivery specifications such as Cable Labs and Movie Labs
- PreviousExperience supporting a VOD workflow or Digital Asset Management system
- Strong organizational skills, must be able to track large scale projects
- Strong multi-tasking abilities and attention to detail
- Strong communicationskills
- Ability to work independently with minimal guidance
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience inQualityControl department.
- Knowledge of Aspera or other advanced delivery systems
- Spanish languageproficiency

The hiring range for this position in San Francisco, CA is $73,100 to $98,000 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
