Job description
Job Title Registered Nurse, Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Job Summary We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) for a Per Diem assignment in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at an acute care hospital located in Inglewood, California. This role is crucial for delivering specialized care to critically ill patients requiring advanced monitoring and interventions. The successful candidate will be responsible for applying the full nursing process—assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation—to ensure optimal patient outcomes. This includes providing direct patient care, educating patients and families, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and maintaining the highest standards of care in a dynamic critical care environment. Key Responsibilities Deliver safe, high-quality patient care utilizing the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation). Provide direct patient care within the scope of practice for critically ill patients. Direct and guide patient and family education regarding treatment plans and recovery. Oversee and guide the activities of other nursing personnel, ensuring adherence to established standards of care. Communicate effectively and promptly with physicians regarding changes in patient clinical condition, including hemodynamic status, diagnostic results, and symptomatology. Monitor, interpret, and respond quickly and accurately to changes in patient condition and/or response to treatment. Maintain strict patient privacy and confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations and hospital policies. Required Qualifications Minimum of one (1) year of recent experience as a Staff Registered Nurse in an acute care hospital critical care setting (ICU). Ability to work Per Diem shifts, including weekends. Preferred Qualifications Not specified. Skills & Competencies Proficiency in the nursing process and critical care patient management. Expertise in hemodynamic monitoring and interpretation. Strong ability to interpret diagnostic study results and identify abnormal findings. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, for effective collaboration with physicians, patients, and families. Demonstrated ability to respond rapidly and effectively to emergent patient situations. Proficiency with critical care equipment and technology. Exceptional critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities. Commitment to maintaining patient privacy and confidentiality. Shift Details Shift Type: Night Shift (NOC) Shift Hours: 12.5-hour shifts (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM) Days Per Week: 3 days per week Weekend Rotation: Required Call Requirements: Not specified. Contract Length: 26 weeks Assignment Dates: June 29, 2026 - December 27, 2026 Note: This is a Per Diem position with no guaranteed hours. Licensing Requirements Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of California. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (AHA or Red Cross). Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification (AHA or Red Cross).
