Job Description Registered Nurse - Cardiac Catheterization Lab Job Summary We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Registered Nurse for a contract position within our Cardiac Catheterization Lab in Reno, Nevada. This role is pivotal in delivering specialized nursing care to patients undergoing a variety of diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures. The successful candidate will be integral to the patient journey, providing expert care from pre-procedure assessment and education through intra-procedure monitoring and post-procedure recovery, ensuring patient safety and optimal outcomes in a fast-paced environment. Key Responsibilities Provide direct patient care, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation, for patients undergoing cardiac catheterization procedures. Assist physicians during diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures, including angioplasty, stent placement, and pacemaker insertions. Monitor and interpret patient hemodynamics, EKG, and vital signs throughout all phases of care. Administer medications, including conscious sedation, and manage pain effectively. Prepare and maintain a sterile environment and ensure proper functioning of specialized equipment. Educate patients and families regarding procedures, post-procedure care, and discharge instructions. Document all patient care activities accurately and comprehensively in the electronic health record. Respond promptly and effectively to emergent situations, utilizing advanced cardiac life support protocols. Collaborate with cardiologists, technologists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless patient care. Required Qualifications Active Registered Nurse (RN) license. Minimum of 2 years of recent experience as a Registered Nurse in an acute care Cardiac Catheterization Lab setting. Graduation from an accredited nursing program. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). Experience with various cardiac interventional procedures. Skills & Competencies Proficiency in hemodynamic monitoring and interpretation. Expertise in EKG interpretation and arrhythmia recognition. Strong IV insertion and medication administration skills. Competence in sterile technique and infection control practices. Ability to operate and troubleshoot specialized Cath Lab equipment. Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving abilities. Effective communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work efficiently and calmly in high-stress situations. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Shift Details Shift Type: Day shift Hours: 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM (10-hour shifts) Days per Week: 5 days Contract Length: 13 weeks Start Date: June 15, 2026 End Date: September 13, 2026 Call Requirements: Not specified.
