Job Description Job Title Registered Nurse - Definitive Observation Unit (DOU) Job Summary Join our dedicated nursing team as a Registered Nurse in a Definitive Observation Unit (DOU) at an acute care hospital in Inglewood, California. This per diem role is crucial for providing high-quality, patient-centered care to individuals requiring close monitoring and telemetry services. The successful candidate will be responsible for the comprehensive application of the nursing process, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care. This involves direct patient care, patient and family education, and guiding other nursing personnel to ensure optimal patient outcomes within a dynamic acute care environment. Key Responsibilities Deliver safe and effective patient care utilizing the nursing process: assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Provide direct patient care within the scope of practice for patients in a Definitive Observation Unit (DOU) / Telemetry setting. Direct and guide patient and family teaching initiatives to promote understanding and participation in care. Oversee and guide the activities of other nursing personnel, ensuring adherence to professional nursing standards. Maintain high standards of professional nursing care, particularly in telemetry monitoring. Communicate effectively with physicians regarding changes in patient clinical condition, including diagnostic study results and symptomatology. Respond quickly and accurately to changes in patient condition and/or response to treatment. Float to units of competency as needed. Maintain strict patient privacy and confidentiality in accordance with hospital policies and regulations. Required Qualifications Minimum of one (1) year of experience as a staff Registered Nurse in an acute care hospital setting. Preferred Qualifications Experience with Meditech Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system. COVID-19 vaccination. Skills & Competencies Proficiency in patient assessment, care planning, intervention, and evaluation. Strong clinical skills in acute care and telemetry monitoring. Ability to effectively communicate with patients, families, physicians, and interdisciplinary team members. Demonstrated critical thinking and rapid response capabilities in evolving patient conditions. Accountability and professionalism in all aspects of patient care.
