Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) - Travel Job Title Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) - Travel Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Travel Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join an interdisciplinary rehabilitation team at a Skilled Nursing Facility in Salinas, California. This role is integral to helping residents regain independence and enhance their quality of life through skilled occupational therapy interventions. The facility serves a diverse patient population encompassing skilled nursing and short-term rehabilitation. You will have the opportunity to treat a wide variety of diagnoses, including orthopedic, neurological, cardiopulmonary, and medically complex cases, fostering significant professional growth. As a key member of the rehabilitation team, you will collaborate closely with Occupational Therapists, Physical Therapists, Speech-Language Pathologists, nursing staff, physicians, and patient families to ensure comprehensive, patient-centered care and effective discharge planning. Key Responsibilities Provide skilled occupational therapy treatments under the direct supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist. Implement individualized treatment plans focused on improving Activities of Daily Living (ADL) performance, functional mobility, upper extremity function, cognition, safety awareness, and overall independence. Accurately document patient treatments, progress, and interventions using electronic medical records (EMR) in compliance with facility and regulatory standards. Collaborate effectively with the interdisciplinary team regarding patient progress, care plan adjustments, and discharge planning. Educate patients, caregivers, and facility staff on adaptive equipment, home safety modifications, and functional strategies to promote continued independence. Maintain strict compliance with Medicare, state, and facility documentation and practice standards. Participate in care conferences and team meetings as appropriate to contribute to holistic patient care. Required Qualifications Graduation from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Preferred Qualifications Previous experience in a Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) setting. Skills & Competencies Proficiency in implementing individualized treatment plans for ADL performance, functional mobility, upper extremity function, cognition, and safety awareness. Experience with electronic medical record (EMR) systems, specifically Net Health. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong teamwork and collaboration abilities within an interdisciplinary setting. Demonstrated positive attitude and a passion for patient-centered care.
