Job Title: Mechanical Assembler
Job Description

This role focuses on assembling engine cowlings and sheet metal components in an aerospace manufacturing environment. You will read blueprints and standard operating procedures, use a variety of hand and power tools, and perform basic quality checks such as torque and electrical bond verification. You will work with large parts, support commercial and military aircraft engine programs, and contribute to a highly collaborative, continuous-improvement-focused team.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and standard operating procedures to assemble components and parts accurately.
  • Assemble engine cowlings (casings) and sheet metal components for aerospace applications, including commercial and military aircraft engines.
  • Use power tools, hand tools, drills, and torque tools to assemble mechanical components according to specifications.
  • Perform basic quality verification practices, including confirming torque settings, conducting electrical bond checks, and taking dimensional measurements.
  • Handle and assemble large parts safely and efficiently while maintaining alignment and structural integrity.
  • Complete electric bond checks to ensure proper electrical continuity and compliance with requirements.
  • Apply an understanding of customer specifications and requirements; familiarity with Honeywell specifications is a plus.
  • Follow all health and safety guidelines and maintain a safe and organized work area.
  • Support Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement initiatives on the production floor.
  • Collaborate closely with team members and supervisors to meet production schedules and quality standards.
  • Document work as required, including recording measurements, torque values, and inspection results.
  • Identify and report any defects, nonconformances, or equipment issues to the appropriate personnel.
Essential Skills
  • 2–3 years of mechanical assembly experience.
  • 2+ years of experience working in a manufacturing environment; aerospace experience highly preferred.
  • Experience assembling large parts in a production or maintenance setting.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and standard operating procedures.
  • Proficiency using hand tools, power tools, drills, and torque tools.
  • Basic quality verification skills, including torque settings, electrical bond checks, and dimensional measurements.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
  • Ability to follow health and safety guidelines consistently.
  • Effective teamwork and communication skills in a production environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience in an aerospace environment, especially with commercial or military aircraft engines, is a significant plus.
  • Background in automotive or other manufacturing industries is acceptable and considered beneficial.
  • Understanding of Honeywell specifications is a plus.
  • Experience in structured environments such as the Air Force, Army, Marines, or similar organizations is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement practices.
  • Comfort working with large mechanical assemblies and precision components.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to identify and communicate issues promptly.

Work Environment

This role is based in an aerospace manufacturing facility located on-site near a major airport. The environment supports aerospace programs and operates under Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement principles. You will work in a highly team-oriented, tight-knit group where collaboration and mutual support are central to daily operations. The facility uses a variety of hand and power tools, torque equipment, and measurement devices to assemble and verify large mechanical components. Standard hours are Monday through Friday, 6:00 . to 2:30 ., with additional overtime opportunities as needed. The work area emphasizes organization, cleanliness, and safety, consistent with modern aerospace manufacturing standards.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Phoenix, AZ.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $26.00/hr.
