Job description

Assistant Director Of Food & Beverage

Nestled in Cherry Hills Village, Colorado, Cherry Hills Country Club has been a beloved gathering place for families and friends since 1922. We are more than a world-class golf destination. We are a community built on warmth, shared experiences, and exceptional hospitality. With 13 major championships and a course ranked among the Top 100 in the country, our history speaks for itself. But it is our people, members and staff alike, who truly make this place special.

At the heart of the Cherry Hills experience is a dynamic food and beverage program spanning multiple dining outlets, a vibrant bar and social scene, and a full calendar of member events and private functions. From elegant fine dining to relaxed, family-friendly gatherings, our culinary and service teams are dedicated to delivering memorable experiences rooted in genuine hospitality and an unwavering commitment to quality.

Cherry Hills Country Club is seeking an Assistant Director of Food & Beverage, an accomplished hospitality leader who will help guide and elevate every facet of the member's dining experience. Reporting to and partnering closely with the Director of Food & Beverage, this individual serves as a driving force behind service excellence, operational discipline, and team development across all F&B outlets.

This is a highly visible, floor-engaged leadership role for someone who blends polished hospitality instincts with sharp operational and financial acumen. The Assistant Director will be a present and approachable leader to both members and staff, setting the tone for service, mentoring the team, and continually developing programs that enhance the dining experience and grow dining traffic and revenue. The ideal candidate brings the confidence to lead in the Director's absence, the discipline to manage the details, and the warmth to make every member feel at home.

This position reports to the Director of Food & Beverage and works in close partnership with the Executive Chef and the outlet management team. The Assistant Director provides leadership and supervision across front-of-house operations, including outlet managers, dining room and bar staff, captains, servers, bartenders, hosts, and seasonal team members.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Develop and implement staffing strategies, training programs, and performance management practices that build a high-performing, service-driven team
  • Create an effective onboarding and orientation experience for new staff, along with continuing development programs that grow the skills and careers of experienced team members
  • Foster a collaborative, positive, and accountable work environment that encourages teamwork, professionalism, and innovation
  • Partner with the Director of Food & Beverage and fellow managers to ensure a seamless, consistent membership across all outlets
  • Support payroll, scheduling, and staffing needs within the F&B department, balancing labor efficiency with service quality
  • Oversee daily operations across all food and beverage outlets in a manner that upholds Cherry Hill's tradition of excellence
  • Implement efficient, effective operating processes and procedures that elevate service and minimize waste
  • Develop, document, and enforce standard operating policies and procedures across dining and bar operations
  • Preserve the Club's assets and ensure all facilities are maintained to model operating standards
  • Conduct monthly physical inventory of all beverages, reporting variances to the Director of Food & Beverage
  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting of tips to Accounting, the Director of Food & Beverage, and/or Human Resources
  • Serve as a visible, engaged presence throughout the Club, building relationships with members, gathering feedback, and ensuring consistently high satisfaction
  • Develop and execute creative programming, such as special events, themed evenings, wine dinners, and seasonal culinary offerings, that enrich the member experience and drive engagement
  • Address member and guest concerns with poise and professionalism, taking appropriate corrective action and advising the Director of Food & Beverage and/or Clubhouse Manager, escalating when necessary
  • Oversee daily bar operations across all bar areas, ensuring high-quality drinks and consistent, polished service
  • Develop and maintain an engaging beverage program cocktail lists, wine selections, and craft beer offerings aligned with member preferences and industry trends
  • Manage bar inventory, including ordering, stocking, and inventory controls that minimize waste and ensure cost-effective purchasing
  • Train, schedule, and supervise bartenders and bar support staff in partnership with the Director of Food & Beverage, ensuring adherence to all policies and procedures
  • Enforce all health and safety regulations, including responsible alcohol service
  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, food safety, and licensing requirements
  • Maintain high sanitation and hygiene standards throughout all food and beverage operations
  • Conduct regular inspections to confirm that safety, sanitation, preventative maintenance, and operating standards are consistently met

Requirements include:

  • Proven success managing, mentoring, and developing front-of-house teams across multiple outlets in a high-volume hospitality environment
  • Composure and restraint in high-pressure situations, with the patience, tact, and diplomacy to navigate sensitive member interactions
  • Proven ability to build positive member relations and maximize member satisfaction
