Job Description

The Undergraduate Nursing Director for the School of Nursing, College of Health leads a multi-campus team dedicated to educating the nursing professional workforce of Idaho. The Director is responsible to design, implement, and evaluate all aspects of the baccalaureate degree program. The program includes traditional (first degree) students, accelerated (second degree) students, and Completion (Associate degree RN) students.

This is a 12-month position and reports to the Associate Dean/Director of the School of Nursing and will be located at the Pocatello or Meridian Campus. Travel is required. This position is a clinical track faculty role with responsibilities in teaching, scholarship, and service. The Director works collaboratively with the Associate Dean and Director of the School of Nursing, as well as the Program Manager of the BSN Program.

This is an open-rank, clinical track faculty position eligible for promotion under current guidelines established by the School of Nursing, College of Health, Kasiska Division of Health Sciences, and Idaho State University.

This position is not eligible for new visa sponsorship at this time. Candidates who already hold valid U.S. work authorization may be considered.

Key Responsibilities

The Undergraduate Nursing Director provides strategic and operational leadership for the School of Nursing's undergraduate programs, including the Traditional BSN (TBSN), Accelerated BSN (ABSN), and RN-to-BSN pathways. Working collaboratively with the Associate Dean, Program Coordinators, the BSN Program Manager, faculty, staff, and clinical partners, the Director is responsible for the following:

Strategic Leadership and Administration

Strategic leadership that advances the School of Nursing's vision, supports organizational priorities, and fosters collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.

Academic Program Leadership and Operations

Administrative leadership that ensures effective program operations, faculty workload planning, teaching assignments and teaching schedules, coordinated implementation of curriculum and academic policies, consistent delivery of undergraduate nursing programs across all pathways, and timely resolution of complex student and operational issues.

Curriculum, Assessment, and Accreditation

Leadership of curriculum implementation, assessment, accreditation, and continuous quality improvement to ensure academic excellence, regulatory compliance, and preparation of graduates for contemporary nursing practice.

Faculty Leadership and Student Success

Leadership of faculty recruitment, mentoring, development, evaluation, and professional growth while fostering a collaborative culture that promotes teaching excellence, student success, and academic progression.

Clinical Partnerships and Workforce Engagement

Development and stewardship of partnerships with healthcare organizations and community stakeholders to strengthen clinical education, expand workforce-responsive learning opportunities, and support Idaho's healthcare workforce needs.

Teaching, Scholarship, and Service

Active engagement in teaching, scholarship, and service that advances the mission of the School of Nursing, Idaho State University, and the nursing profession.

Minimum Qualifications

  • MSN with current CNE certification.
  • At least five years of teaching experience at the baccalaureate nursing level, including responsibility for course design, classroom and clinical instruction, student evaluation, and continuous curriculum improvement.
  • Two years of demonstrated success in leadership roles with responsibility for program management, strategic initiatives, and team development.
  • Active, unencumbered Idaho RN license or eligibility to obtain one.

Clinical Assistant Professor:

  • Master's in Nursing or Doctoral degree in Nursing.
  • Experience in guiding undergraduate nursing education at the baccalaureate level and higher, fostering growth and student success.
  • Potential for scholarship, research, and grants/contracts.
  • Active unencumbered RN license in the state of Idaho.

Clinical Associate Professor:

  • All previously listed qualifications.
  • Doctorate degree in Nursing or at least three years of faculty experience in nursing.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Doctoral degree in Nursing (PhD, DNP, or equivalent).
  • Experience providing leadership to multi-site teams across varied geographic locations, ensuring cohesion, accountability, and consistent program delivery.
  • Experience coordinating and leading accreditation processes for nursing programs, including preparation of self-studies and compliance reports.
  • Experience in directing baccalaureate and higher-level nursing programs, including responsibility for curriculum development, faculty mentorship, budget management, and student outcomes assessment.

Additional Information

Salary will be between $105,000 - $115,000 (dependent on rank) salary + $8k stipend - top range with stipend - $123,000 per year, commensurate with education and experience.
