HR Administrator / HRIS (Workday) Specialist (Contract-to-Hire)

Location: Denver, CO (Hybrid/Remote OK)?

Employment Type: 6-Month Contract with Strong Potential for Full-Time Conversion

About the Opportunity

A rapidly growing advanced technology organization is seeking an experienced HR Administrator / HRIS (Workday) Specialist to join its People Operations team during an exciting period of growth and system implementation.

This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys building efficient HR processes while serving as the primary administrator for a newly implemented Workday environment. You'll play a key role in supporting HR operations, maintaining data integrity, assisting with payroll processes, and helping establish scalable systems that will support the company's continued growth.

What You'll Do

HRIS & Workday Administration
  • Serve as the primary administrator for the Workday Human Capital Management (HCM) platform.
  • Configure and maintain business processes, workflows, security roles, organizational structures, and job profiles.
  • Support the continued implementation and optimization of Workday functionality.
  • Troubleshoot system issues and provide support to employees and managers.
  • Partner with implementation consultants and third-party vendors on system enhancements.
  • Create reports, dashboards, calculated fields, and custom analytics.
  • Maintain the accuracy and integrity of employee data across HR systems.

HR Operations & Payroll Support
  • Support day-to-day HR administration throughout the employee lifecycle.
  • Partner with an external payroll provider to ensure accurate employee records and payroll processing.
  • Review and validate payroll-related data prior to processing.
  • Assist with off-cycle payroll activities, audits, and year-end reporting.
  • Maintain accurate employee records and support ongoing data cleanup initiatives.

Employee Support
  • Serve as a trusted resource for employees and managers on HR-related questions.
  • Provide support for:
  • Benefits administration
  • Workday navigation
  • Time-off requests
  • Payroll inquiries
  • Employee records and documentation
  • Deliver responsive, high-quality customer service while maintaining strict confidentiality.

Process Improvement
  • Help develop scalable HR processes and best practices.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency through automation and workflow enhancements.
  • Partner closely with HR, Finance, IT, Recruiting, and business leaders to support organizational growth.

What We're Looking For
  • 4+ years of experience in HR Operations, HR Administration, or HRIS administration.
  • Strong hands-on experience administering Workday HCM.
  • Workday Pro certification is a plus but not required.
  • Experience supporting payroll processes and maintaining HR data accuracy.
  • Strong understanding of employee lifecycle processes and HR operations.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
