Job description
Foundry Core Finishing Technician About the Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented Foundry Core Finishing Technician to join our production team. In this hands-on manufacturing role, you will perform a variety of finishing, coating, inspection, and assembly operations on foundry cores to ensure they meet customer specifications and quality standards. This position is ideal for individuals with foundry experience who enjoy working in a fast-paced production environment.

Responsibilities
  • Read and interpret job tickets, work instructions, and production specifications.
  • Load and unload cores from production racks.
  • Operate hand grinders and air-powered tools to clean, finish, and prepare cores.
  • Drill vents and remove excess material from cores.
  • Apply Chill Kote coatings by brush or dip methods according to customer requirements.
  • Monitor coating quality and ensure proper application without defects.
  • Control conveyor line speeds to maintain efficient production flow.
  • Apply chaplets and pads to designated locations based on job specifications.
  • Perform visual inspections to identify defects, damage, porosity, and other quality concerns.
  • Cut off blow tubes and remove fins from finished cores.
  • Clean, assemble, and prepare cores for the next stage of production.
  • Accurately track production counts, inventory, and scrap data.
  • Coordinate with team members to maintain workflow and meet production goals.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area.
  • Follow all company safety procedures and quality standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum 5 years of foundry or related manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Ability to read and follow work instructions, job tickets, and production specifications.
  • Experience operating hand grinders, air tools, and other manufacturing equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Ability to identify defects and maintain product standards.
  • Ability to work in a physically demanding industrial environment.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Preferred Experience
  • Foundry core making, finishing, coating, or assembly experience.
  • Experience working with quality inspections and production documentation.
  • Knowledge of foundry materials, chaplets, pads, and coating processes.
