Motif is Rhode Island's independent voice for arts, music, theater, food, film, and local news. From our award shows and live events to our print issues, website, and newsletter, we connect the region's most creative businesses and audiences. We're looking for a Customer Relationship Manager to grow and nurture the advertiser and partner relationships that keep independent local media thriving.
As a Customer Relationship Manager, you'll own the full sales cycle across Motif's portfolio — print and digital advertising, event and awards-show sponsorships, and other partnership and revenue opportunities. This is a relationship-driven role: you'll be the trusted point of contact for local businesses, helping them reach engaged Rhode Island audiences while building a book of business you can grow month over month. It's a hybrid position combining remote work with in-person client meetings and event presence in the greater Providence area.
Prospect, pitch, and close new advertising and sponsorship business across print, digital, newsletter, and events.
Manage and grow existing accounts, serving as the primary relationship owner and ensuring clients renew and expand.
Build tailored proposals and packages spanning Motif's full sales portfolio.
Represent Motif at events, awards shows, and in the local business community.
Track your pipeline and hit or exceed weekly and monthly sales goals.
Collaborate with editorial and events teams to deliver on client commitments.
A personable, self-motivated closer who genuinely enjoys building relationships.
Sales, account management, or business development experience preferred (media or advertising a plus).
Comfort working independently, managing your own schedule, and staying organized.
Strong communication skills and a connection to the Rhode Island community.
Reliable transportation for in-person meetings and local events.
This role offers a base pay plus an uncapped commission and a performance-based bonus structure — the more you sell, the more you earn.
Base pay: $150 per week.
Commission: 20% on sales, uncapped.
Performance bonuses: additional income for hitting or surpassing your sales goals, with a bonus structure that scales based on performance.
Pay schedule: paid weekly, every Monday.
