Job Summary

This position is responsible for ensuring efficient management and accurate financial accounting of ticket sales for the centralized Carpenter Center Ticket Office (CCTO). The CCTO is responsible for the selling and accounting of all ticket for the College of the Arts and any other related functions held in the Carpenter Performing Arts Center, Martha B. Knoebel Dance Theatre, Gerald R. Daniel Recital Hall, University Theatre, Studio Theatre and off-site theatres, as required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily support operations for the ticketing office.
  • Maintain Carpenter Center customer database and communication.
  • Provide assistance and guidance to all non-campus users of COTA performance venues in printing, distributing and selling tickets to licensed events.
  • Serve as direct supervisor of ticket office student staff.
  • Assist in planning and implementation of strategies to increase all ticket sales for all College of the Arts venues and departments.

Compensation

Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department’s fiscal resources.

  • Hiring Range: The hiring range for this position is $4,198 (Step 1) - $5,017 (Step 10) per month commensurate with candidate's education, experience, skills, and training.
  • CSU Classification Salary Range: The CSU Classification Salary Range for this position is $4,198 (Step 1) - $6,115 (Step 20) per month.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

This position brings comprehensive experience in ticketing, box office, and event operations, with a strong ability to manage the daily functions of a high-volume ticket office. They are skilled in overseeing seating configurations, pricing strategies, sales reporting, and event setup while ensuring the accuracy of ticketing materials, advertisements, and operational requirements. They demonstrate exceptional attention to detail in maintaining inventory, tracking revenue and ticket activity, coordinating group sales, and supporting patron needs through effective problem-solving and customer service. They build and maintain positive working relationships with internal departments, performing arts organizations, staff, clients, and community partners while supporting the successful execution of campus and public events.

This position also possesses experience managing customer databases and patron communications, including subscription renewals, event notifications, ticketing links, and marketing-related materials. They are committed to maintaining data integrity, ensuring compliance with mailing standards, and collaborating with marketing teams to enhance customer engagement and accessibility to ticketing services. Their strong organizational skills enable them to manage multiple projects simultaneously while ensuring accurate and timely communication with patrons and stakeholders.

In addition, the successful candidate works effectively with both on-campus and external event promoters, providing guidance on ticket sales processes, event logistics, policies, and deadlines. They are adept at coordinating with clients and campus partners to support licensed and university events, leveraging customer feedback and cross-functional collaboration to improve service delivery and the patron experience. Their ability to communicate clearly and build productive partnerships contributes to the success of a diverse range of performances and special events.

This position also demonstrates leadership and supervisory capabilities, with experience training, scheduling, and supporting student employees in a customer-focused environment. They foster a collaborative and accountable workplace culture, ensuring staff are well-prepared to deliver excellent service while maintaining operational efficiency. Additionally, they contribute to the development and implementation of strategies that increase ticket sales, expand audience engagement, and support the overall revenue and programmatic goals of the College of the Arts and its performance venues.

Education and Experience

• Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in a related field required. Relevant education and/or experience which demonstrates acquired and successfully applied knowledge and abilities shown above may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

• Equivalent to three years progressive experience in a supervisory position working in a ticket office with high level of activity preferred.

• One year experience with computerized ticketing systems and related procedures, equipment, and administrative techniques preferred.

• Experience with wide range of box office accounting and reporting preferred.
