Design Technician III

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

  • Design components, systems, fixtures, and support tooling for new and existing products.
  • Modify and improve designs to support manufacturing and field service operations.
  • Prepare layouts, sketches, studies, and calculations to support design proposals.
  • Use CAD software and related design tools such as PTC Creo Parametric, SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD, CATIA, Siemens NX, for design development and documentation.
  • Coordinate design criteria with engineering, manufacturing, operations, and suppliers to support reliability, manufacturability, material availability, and compliance with specifications.
  • Manage multiple concurrent projects and tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing and cross-functional partners to ensure designs are robust, manufacturable, and aligned with quality expectations.

Required Knowledge and Experience:

  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience.
  • High school diploma or equivalent

Nice-to-Have:

  • Associate degree in Mechanical Design or bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
  • Proficiency in creating detailed mechanical drawings and applying GD&T in accordance with ASME Y14.5 and ISO standards.
  • Advanced CAD expertise, preferably in PTC Creo Parametric and/or 3DS SolidWorks, including detailing, assembly, surfacing, optimization, FEA, top-down design, and model-based definition.
  • Experience with Windchill PDMLink, including document management and ECR/ECO workflows.

For Baccalaureate degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree that satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required.

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$67,200.00 - $100,800.00This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information applies solely to candidates hired within the United States (local-market compensation and benefits will apply to others).

The following benefits and additional compensation are available to those regular employees who work 20+ hours per week: Health, Dental and vision insurance,Health Savings Account,Healthcare Flexible Spending Account,Life insurance, Long-term disability leave,Dependent daycare spending account,Tuition assistance/reimbursement, andSimple Steps (global well-being program).
