Job description

Community Engagement Manager

The Community Engagement Manager supports the building and sustainment of authentic long-standing, mutually beneficial, multi-faceted community connections, relationships and partnerships with the Director of Community Engagement and the Community Engagement team in planning, creating and implementing initiatives in alignment with the overall DCPA organizational strategy to further community connection and impact. This position will work with internal and external partners and will serve as a community contact, facilitator, event manager, administrative support and project manager of all aspects of Community Engagement programs from initial planning through completion.

Duties and responsibilities include:

  • Support the design, implementation and evaluation of community engagement experiences and initiatives to help position the DCPA within the community and with community partners, leading to richer connections and a more community-centered organization
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships and support mutually-beneficial collaborations with community organizations and leaders
  • Work to build richer community connections through relationship and asset-based change making
  • Facilitate and/or coordinate workshops, talkbacks, roundtables, and other community-based conversations
  • Coordinate DCPA involvement and participation in collective efforts to support community partners, including participation in festivals and public events
  • Participate in neighborhood and community-based collaboratives on behalf of the DCPA and as a liaison within the community
  • Initiate, manage, and support community engagement efforts including community conversations, community events, community asset allocation, talkbacks, lobby experiences, digital communications, and other initiatives aligned with the work of the Community Engagement and Audience Development workgroup.
  • Track, maintain, and synthesize community engagement activities, relationships, participation metrics, and follow-up needs through shared database systems to support evaluation, impact measurement, and annual reporting.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional internal working groups including Marketing, Theatre Company, Broadway and Education and Community Engagement divisions to support community initiatives, communications, reporting, and organizational goals.
  • Provide administrative, project management, and reporting support to the Director of Community Engagement, including the preparation of departmental work plans, data reports, presentations, Board materials, and other strategic documents.
  • Manage Community Engagement communication channels, including webpage content and the quarterly Community Engagement newsletter, ensuring timely, accurate, and engaging information for community partners and stakeholders.
  • Some evening and weekend hours required
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications include:

  • Previous community engagement, community building, community development or community outreach experience required
  • Community member with cultural acumen and a knowledge and understanding of the community context within the Denver Metro area.
  • Strong time/project management and interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with internal and external partners.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to communicate complex ideas simply and succinctly.
  • Thoughtful, collaborative, honest communicator.
  • Authentic listener.
  • Experience in database management and/or program evaluation a plus.
  • Bilingual in Spanish a plus.
  • Community Engagement experience within a cultural space a plus.
  • Higher Degree or equal professional experience in at least one of the following:
    • Community Engagement/Community Building
    • Communication
    • Sociology
    • Education
    • Performing Arts

Working Conditions include:

Must be available to work occasional nights and weekends. Must occasionally be able to travel throughout Denver and the major metro area. This position operates in a professional office environment using standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers

Physical Requirements include:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

Compensation is $60,000.00 - $70,000.00 annually
