Pre-Award Manager

Reporting to the Director of Sponsored Projects, the Pre-Award Manager serves as a key member of the Office of Sponsored Projects (OSP) and is responsible for shepherding grant proposals from concept development through submission. This position researches grant and resource opportunities and provides comprehensive pre-award support to institutional programs, departments, and schools to advance the College of Southern Nevada's strategic priorities and mission.

The Pre-Award Manager works collaboratively with faculty, staff, administrators, and external partners to identify funding opportunities and coordinate the development of competitive grant proposals for submission to federal, state, local, and private sponsors. This includes organizing and drafting preliminary concept papers and white papers, assisting with narrative development, and ensuring all required proposal components are complete, accurate, and submitted in a timely manner.

The position develops proposal timelines and manages milestones to ensure all stakeholders understand deliverables and deadlines. The Pre-Award Manager interprets complex sponsor guidelines, monitors updates and changes from funding agencies, and advises project teams on proposal requirements, institutional policies, and federal cost principles. The position assists with budget development and reviews proposals for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with campus policies and external regulations.

In addition, the Pre-Award Manager prepares and submits required forms and proposal packages through sponsor and institutional electronic systems, including grants management portals. The position creates, researches, and maintains a comprehensive database of grant opportunities and funders, as well as a calendar of grant deadlines and submission activities for opportunities being pursued or strongly considered.

The Pre-Award Manager plays an essential role in supporting faculty and staff throughout the grant development process by providing technical assistance, coordinating communications, and helping teams navigate complex funding requirements. Through these efforts, the position strengthens CSN's capacity to secure external funding and implement high-impact initiatives that support student success, workforce development, and institutional advancement. Additional duties may be assigned by the Director of Sponsored Projects.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in related field from a regionally accredited college or university: OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 4 years of related experience.
• 3 years' experience in management, fundraising and grant writing.
• Experience interacting with diverse teams and community partners.
• Experience working with principal investigators in a higher education setting.
• Experience in grant research, grant writing, grant budget, and development.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher from a regionally accredited college or university.
• Proven record of submitted and awarded grants at the local, state, and federal level.

• Knowledge of best practices, philosophies and processes in fundraising and grant writing profession.
• Demonstrated ability and success in fundraising and securing grants for multiple issues and different types of organizational types and needs in the community.
• Knowledge of federal, state, specific agency grants processes, regulations, and programmatic requirements and ability to research and interpret.
• Oral and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to write, proofread and edit.
• Proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint and database management.
• Knowledge of reporting protocols and processes.
• Knowledge of Board of Regents policy, procedures, applicable State and Federal statutes/regulations.
• Ability to develop procedures and practices to increase work efficiency.
• Time management skills and the ability to organize and prioritize.
• Organizational and planning skills with demonstrated experience in project with time sensitive deadlines.
• Ability to manage several complex projects simultaneously.
• Strategic thinker and ability to problem solve.

Salary Information Administrative Faculty D The Starting Salary is $86,445
