Adjunct Professor Series Pool Ad - Open Ranks in the Department of Surgery FY 2026-27

Position description

The Department of Surgery at the University of California, Los Angeles, anticipates openings for physicians in its various divisions. These openings will be at the level of Assistant Professor or above, depending upon the candidate’s qualification and will be in the Adjunct Professor Series (non-tenure track).

Criteria for the Professor in the Adjunct Series:
Adjunct Professor series faculty engage in teaching, university and public service which derive from and support their primary responsibilities in research and professional activity.

The divisions include: Cardiac Surgery, General Surgery, Liver and Pancreas Transplantation, Pediatric Surgery, Plastic Surgery, Surgical Oncology, Thoracic Surgery, Vascular Surgery

DUTIES: The incumbent will participate in research, teaching, perform university and public service, and demonstrate professional competency and creative work.

REQUIREMENTS: M.D., D.O. or M.D./Ph.D. from an accredited institution with appropriate clinical training and experience. Have current or applied for California Medical License and Board-Certified. Candidates must have demonstrated capabilities for teaching, professional service and/or research suitable to the Adjunct Professor series.

Positions are dependent upon funding and availability. Salary and rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Initial appointments are for one year and renewal is based on availability of support.

The posted set the minimum pay determined by rank and step at appointment. See Table 5 - Summary. The salary range will be according to your FTE. The salary range for this position is $93,700-$587,800; according to candidate's qualifications and experience, and the division's requirements. This position includes membership in the , which provides for eligibility for additional compensation.
