Job description

Job Description SummaryTutors work in the Academic Success Center (ASC) or assigned department, both one-on-one and in small groups, to help students better understand course concepts, become independent learners, and succeed in and out of the classroom. In addition, the tutor will share learning, studying, and test-taking strategies and perform some clerical duties to support the functions of the ASC. Tutoring subjects include accounting, basic computer concepts, economics, English, English for academic purposes, math, science, and modern foreign language.The ideal candidate must possess excellent time management, customer service, and verbal and written communication skills. Variable work hours may include evenings and weekends up to 27.5 per week, and work schedules are arranged on a semester-by-semester basis and are dependent on the department's needs.Advanced levels and proficiency in the subject areas to be tutoredStrong verbal and written communication skillsAbility to work a flexible schedule that may include evening and weekend assignmentsAbility to work with students from diverse educational, cultural, religious, and social backgroundsMust be available to work a minimum of 10-hours weeklyThis position allows eligible veterans and their spouses to claim Veterans' Preference pursuant to Florida Statute 295.
