Warehouse Manager
The Warehouse Manager is responsible for directing and managing assigned areas of distribution center operations to ensure the safe, efficient, and accurate flow of merchandise. Based on operational needs and shift assignment, this role leads one or more designated functional areas, which may include inbound receiving, put-away, replenishment, storage, order fulfillment, cross-dock operations, inventory management, yard coordination, or shipping execution. Managers may rotate between operational areas over time to support business needs but are typically responsible for a designated functional area during their assigned shift.
This position operates across ambient, semi-automated/automated, and perishable environments, requiring adaptability to varying operational processes, temperature-controlled conditions, and regulatory requirements. The role is focused on frontline operational execution, team leadership, and continuous improvement to support service, safety, and financial performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain a safe, organized, and high-performance work environment.
- Ensure compliance with safety, regulatory, and operational standards including OSHA, GMP, SQF, HACCP, and COOL (as applicable).
- Direct day-to-day operations within assigned functional area(s), which may include receiving, unloading, put-away, storage, replenishment, cross-dock flow, picking, pallet operations, yard movement, inventory management, or shipping execution.
- Execute operational plans within assigned functional area(s) to ensure the accurate, timely flow of merchandise and achievement of service level agreements.
- Ensure asset integrity through proper handling, staging, verification, and shipment of merchandise while minimizing damage and shrink.
- Monitor and manage inventory handling practices, including rotation (FIFO/FEFO), quality control, and discrepancy resolution, as applicable to assigned operations.
- Plan, schedule, and optimize labor to align with volume demands while controlling costs and improving productivity.
- Monitor performance through KPIs and operational metrics; analyze data to identify gaps, drive decisions, and implement improvements.
- Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve operational issues impacting throughput, service, quality, or safety.
- Ensure proper execution of receiving and shipping processes, including documentation, verification, audit readiness, and adherence to company policies and vendor requirements, as applicable to assigned area(s).
- Oversee cross-dock and high-velocity product flow, when assigned, to maximize throughput and reduce dwell time.
- Ensure effective utilization and performance of warehouse systems (WMS), automation systems (e.g., ASRS), and material handling equipment (MHE).
- Partner with Quality, Food Safety, Loss Prevention, Transportation, and Maintenance teams to ensure compliance, audit readiness, and operational reliability.
- Support budget execution, cost control, and resource planning for assigned operational area(s).
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, or other operational excellence methodologies.
- Lead, coach, and develop supervisors and frontline team members; ensure consistent application of policies, training, and performance management practices.
- Partner with Human Resources on staffing, onboarding, performance management, and corrective actions.
- Ensure accurate reporting, documentation, and compliance with audit and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional partners to support operational goals and customer expectations.
- Perform additional duties and provide cross-functional operational support as needed.

Qualifications
- Education and/or experience in business, Supply Chain, Logistics, or a related field preferred, with 35 years of warehouse, distribution, retail, or supply chain operations experience, including leadership responsibility.
- Experience in ambient, automated, cross-dock, or perishable distribution environments preferred.
- Demonstrated experience managing a diverse team in high-volume fast-paced operations.
- Working knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS); familiarity with Transportation Management Systems (TMS) and warehouse automation systems preferred.
- Understanding of inventory control, warehouse operations, and product flow management.
- Knowledge of OSHA compliance; familiarity with GMP, SQF, HACCP, and food safety practices preferred.
- Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies preferred.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, planning, and organizational skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence across all organizational levels.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and warehouse management systems.
Physical Demands
- Occasionally lift up to 50 lbs., occasional heavier lifting with assistance.
- Prolonged standing, walking, bending, reaching, and twisting for up to 1012 hours.
- Frequent movement throughout warehouse environments on hard surfaces.
- Exposure to ambient, refrigerated, and frozen environments (temperatures as low as -20F).
- Ability to work flexible schedules, including nights, weekends, holidays, and extended hours as business needs require.
- Required to comply with all PPE requirements for the assigned building or work area, including wearing steel-toe footwear, safety glasses, gloves, and any other required personal protective equipment (PPE).
Work Environment & Additional Requirements
- May be exposed to food products and allergens in perishable distribution environments.
- Must comply with all company policies, procedures, and applicable regulatory requirements.
- May require limited travel (up to approximately 10%).
In accordance with the Pay Transparency requirements, the following represents a good faith estimate of the compensation range for this position. At BJ's Wholesale Club, we carefully consider a wide range of non-discriminatory factors when determining salary. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, education, experience, and qualifications. The pay range for this position is starting from $75,500.00.
