Job description

Project Manager: Behavioral Assessment

Role Summary

We are seeking a capable, early-career generalist with a background in psychology, neuroscience, or a related field to join us as a Project Manager. Don’t worry about the job title, we struggle with it too. Just focus on the role and what we expect you to do.

This role sits at the center of how we deliver our work. You will work closely with Sarah Dalton across executive assessments, survey processes, and client delivery, helping ensure that projects run smoothly, outputs are high quality, and clients and candidates have a consistent, professional experience. You will experience some client facing work very quickly, and this will expand over time.

In the early stages, the focus will be on supporting project execution, coordination, and analysis. There will be a lot of learning during this phase, and this can sometimes be frustrating for people who want to prove their worth immediately. Over time, the role is expected to evolve into one with greater responsibility for assessment design, insight generation, and selected client interaction. We will encourage you to write and publish and will provide our platform to aid you.

This is a broad, hands-on role combining behavioral science, structured thinking, operational execution, and emerging use of AI tools. It is well suited to someone who wants to develop practical capability in applied psychology within a small, high-trust environment.

We work with outstanding organizations and wonderful clients. We regard many as our friends and we have worked with some for over 20 years. We have recently been growing and attracting new clients and we expect this to continue – hence the need for this role.

Although this role is unambiguous in being an “entry-level” position, the right individual can grow a long and fulfilling career with us. Your ongoing learning and development is very important to us and the opportunity exists for you to become a major player in the future of our company.

Core Responsibilities

Executive Assessment Operations & Candidate Experience

  • Coordinate end-to-end logistics for leadership assessments
  • Manage scheduling across candidates, clients, and internal team
  • Ensure all materials (CVs, job descriptions, reports) are complete and organized
  • Maintain accurate and well-structured candidate records
  • Support a high-quality candidate experience, including:
    • Communication and follow-ups
    • Feedback scheduling
    • Ensuring consistency across all touchpoints
  • Assist in the preparation of assessment summaries and reports, including use of AI tools where appropriate

Survey & 360 Feedback Delivery

  • Manage administration of 360 feedback processes:
    • Rater coordination and tracking
    • Client communication
    • Survey deployment
    • Interview scheduling
  • Ensure high participation rates and smooth execution
  • Compile and structure survey outputs and interview data
  • Support development and refinement of reporting templates
  • Working alongside Sarah and Barry to produce clear, compelling and accurate leadership development narratives

Reporting, Analysis & AI-Assisted Content Creation

  • Support the drafting of reports, summaries, and client materials
  • Use tools (including AI tools) to assist in synthesizing qualitative and quantitative data
  • Help ensure clarity, consistency, and quality across outputs
  • Contribute to improving internal approaches to:
    • Report writing
    • Data use and synthesis
    • Use of transcription and supporting materials

Data Quality, Systems & Platform Support

  • Review and maintain quality of assessment data
  • Test and audit live assessments for accuracy, consistency, and clarity
  • Support ongoing development and maintenance of internal platforms (including Socrates)
  • Assist with:
    • Data cleanup and structuring
    • Candidate record management
    • System testing and quality assurance

Process, Documentation & Client Enablement

  • Organize and maintain internal materials, templates, and documentation
  • Help create clear and consistent process documentation for clients
  • Support development of case studies, explanatory materials, and structured outputs
  • Assist with:
    • Contract organization and audit
    • Compliance and documentation processes (including data privacy readiness)

Training & Knowledge Development

  • Support development of training materials and client resources
  • Help maintain a structured library of frameworks, models, and assessment content
  • Build familiarity with the firm’s methodologies and approaches
  • Over time:
    • Contribute to internal knowledge sharing
    • Support elements of onboarding or training delivery

Marketing, Outreach & Thought Leadership Support

  • Support publication of articles and website content
  • Improve formatting and presentation of written materials
  • Assist with outreach efforts (e.g., universities, events, speaking opportunities)

Research & Industry Awareness

  • Monitor relevant research and developments in psychology and organizational behavior
  • Summarize insights and share internally
  • Help maintain awareness of broader thinking beyond day-to-day project work

What We’re Looking For

Essential

  • Background in psychology, neuroscience, behavioral science, or a related discipline
  • Understanding of the psychological assessment landscape
  • Familiarity with psychometrics and measurement concepts
  • Strong written communication skills
  • High attention to detail and organizational ability
  • Ability to work reliably and remotely, and manage multiple tasks
  • Interest in applied behavioral work (not purely academic research)

Preferred

  • Experience with surveys, research, or data handling
  • Familiarity with Excel or similar tools
  • Exposure to survey platforms or research tools
  • Some experience using AI tools in a practical context
  • Interest in organizational psychology and leadership assessment

Personal Characteristics

  • Structured, thoughtful, and detail-oriented
  • Practical and execution-focused
  • Curious and willing to learn
  • Comfortable working across a range of tasks
  • Able to take ownership as confidence and capability grow

Who This Role Would Suit

This role is well suited to someone who is:

  • In college and seeking meaningful part-time experience, or
  • Recently graduated and looking for a broad, applied first role
  • Already in a similar role with another company but lacking the breadth and scope offered here

It is particularly attractive to those who:

  • Want exposure to real client work early in their career
  • Are interested in how psychology operates in organizational settings
  • Prefer variety and responsibility over narrowly defined roles
  • Are motivated to grow into a more independent, client-facing contributor over time

Role Progression

This role is designed to evolve. Initially, the focus will be on supporting project execution, coordination, and quality. As capability develops, the successful candidate will take on increasing responsibility in survey design, analysis, reporting, and selected client interactions. We are looking for someone who can contribute immediately, but who also has the potential to grow into a broader and more independent role as the firm continues to expand.

Practical Details

Employment Structure:

Full-time (preferred) or part-time (depending on candidate)

Compensation (indicative):

Part-time: ~$22–$30 per hour

Full-time: ~$55,000–$70,000

Application & Selection Process

We are interested in candidates who are thoughtful, curious, and motivated by the nature of the work itself. Before applying, we ask that you consider carefully whether this role genuinely interests and excites you. Do your homework. We have posted a lot of articles and papers on our website that you would be advised to read through. “The Five Talents That Really Matter” (Conchie & Dalton. 2024. Hachette Go) describes our leadership philosophy and explains the research basis of our primary executive leadership selection assessment. We post extensively on LinkedIn.

If you decide to proceed, please submit the following:

Resume

Prepare and submit a standard resume. This should be a PDF file.

This should provide a clear, chronological overview of your background, including:

  • High school
  • College
  • Any relevant work or experience

Please keep this focused and concise. We are interested in understanding where you have been and what you have done - there is no need to include unnecessary detail. Substance counts over style. Do NOT submit a photograph. If your standard resume includes a photograph please submit one without. Resumes that include photographs will be rejected. Do NOT include any open testimonials or references with your application.

Next Steps

All candidates who submit the above will be invited to complete an online employment assessment, details of which will be sent via email. This will take between 15-20 minutes of your time and can be completed on a laptop, tablet or cellphone. Do not begin the assessment unless you know you have the time to complete it.

Following this:

  • Selected candidates may be invited to an initial video interview with Sarah Dalton
  • Final candidates may then be invited to a second interview with Sarah Dalton and Barry Conchie
  • Interviews may be conducted by video or in person, depending on logistics

About Conchie Associates

Conchie Associates is a boutique applied research and advisory firm focused on leadership, assessment, selection, behavior, and organizational effectiveness. We work with Boards, senior leaders and organizations to better understand how people operate individually and collectively, using rigorous behavioral frameworks and practical, experience-based insight. Our fundamental belief is that everyone deserves a role that is the very best fit for their talents and maximizes their enjoyment, capabilities and achievements. Our entire business operates with this in mind.

Our work sits at the intersection of psychology, behavioral science, leadership assessment, and real-world organizational challenges. We design and deliver executive assessments, 360 feedback processes, and team-based diagnostics that help clients make better decisions about leadership, development, succession and performance. We share our insights through extensive writing and publications

We are not a personality assessment business. Our approach is grounded in precise research, observation, structured analysis, and applied behavioral science, with a strong emphasis on clarity, usefulness, and real-world impact.

As a small and growing firm, we operate with a high degree of trust, autonomy, and flexibility. Team members are exposed to a broad range of work and are expected to contribute across multiple areas as they develop. If there is a need, we step in and help – we don’t wait to be asked - and we don’t want to work with people who believe they need permission.
