Job Summary

The Safety Manager at Reeves leads the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the company’s health, safety, and environmental (HSE) programs. This role ensures legal compliance, promotes a proactive safety culture, minimizes workplace incidents, and supports operational goals by managing risk and providing practical, site-level guidance to employees and leadership.

Main Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive safety and environmental programs, policies, and procedures that comply with federal, state, and local regulations and industry best practices.
  • Conduct regular site inspections, safety audits, and risk assessments; document findings and drive corrective action plans to closure.
  • Lead incident investigation and root cause analysis for near-misses, injuries, and environmental events; prepare incident reports and recommend preventive measures.
  • Manage and deliver safety training programs (new hire onboarding, toolbox talks, permit-required procedures, PPE use, emergency response, hazard communication, etc.) and track training compliance.
  • Maintain OSHA logs, incident records, safety metrics, and dashboards; report KPIs to senior management and recommend operational controls to reduce exposures and improve performance.
  • Oversee the selection, use, and maintenance of PPE and safety equipment; verify calibration and inspection schedules for safety-critical devices.
  • Partner with operations, maintenance, HR, and contractors to ensure safety expectations are integrated into daily work and contractor management processes.
  • Coordinate emergency preparedness and response planning, including drills, evacuation procedures, and liaison with local emergency responders.
  • Manage regulatory inspections and coordinate responses to citations or corrective actions.
  • Develop and lead behavior-based safety initiatives, safety committees, and employee engagement activities to foster a positive safety culture.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant regulations, industry trends, and technologies to recommend continuous improvement.
  • Prepare and manage safety budgets, purchase orders, and vendor relationships as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive safety experience, preferably in construction, manufacturing, oil & gas, utilities, or similar heavy-industrial environments.
  • Strong working knowledge of OSHA regulations and applicable state/local safety codes.
  • Experience performing incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action management.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and delivering safety training and competency programs.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to influence at all organizational levels.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with EHS management software is a plus.
  • Valid driver’s license; travel to job sites required.

Working Conditions

  • On-site work at Reeves operational locations with exposure to typical industrial environments (noise, moving equipment, outdoor conditions).
  • Frequent walking, climbing stairs/ladders, and occasional lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Occasional evening or weekend work for incident response or audits.
  • Required use of PPE while on site.
