Radiation Therapist Job Description Job Title Radiation Therapist Job Summary Join the dedicated team at Doctors Medical Center of Modesto, a prominent healthcare facility in Modesto, California. This role offers an opportunity to provide essential therapeutic care in a dynamic hospital environment, focusing on patient well-being and treatment efficacy. The Radiation Therapist will be responsible for delivering precise radiation treatments as prescribed by radiation oncologists. This involves operating advanced linear accelerators, accurately positioning patients, and ensuring the highest standards of safety and quality throughout the treatment process. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical skills, a compassionate approach to patient care, and a commitment to collaborative teamwork. Key Responsibilities Administer prescribed radiation treatments to patients in accordance with treatment plans and physician orders. Operate and maintain linear accelerators and other radiation therapy equipment, ensuring proper functionality and calibration. Accurately position patients for treatment, utilizing immobilization devices and imaging systems (e.g., kV, CBCT) to ensure precise targeting. Monitor patients during treatment, observing for adverse reactions and providing support and comfort. Maintain accurate and thorough treatment records, documenting daily treatments, patient reactions, and any deviations from the treatment plan. Perform daily quality assurance checks on equipment and treatment parameters. Educate patients and their families about treatment procedures, potential side effects, and self-care instructions. Collaborate effectively with radiation oncologists, physicists, dosimetrists, and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient care. Adhere to all safety protocols, radiation protection guidelines, and institutional policies. Required Qualifications Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Radiation Therapy or a related field. Certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Radiation Therapy (T). Current California Radiation Therapist license. Not specified. Attention to detail and strong organizational skills for accurate record-keeping and treatment delivery. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment. Problem-solving skills and ability to adapt to changing patient needs or treatment plans.
