Basic Job Functions:
Nucor Steel Jackson: The Payroll Coordinator I performs the position's essential payroll functions for approximately 300 team members while ensuring accuracy and confidentiality. Responsibilities include processing weekly payroll, production bonuses, garnishments, deductions, and adjustments; preparing, filing, and reconciling federal and state payroll tax returns and W-2s; completing month-, quarter-, and year-end activities; preparing payroll reports and reconciliations for Accounting; resolving payroll questions and discrepancies; and maintaining required records. The position also supports company-sponsored programs, including service awards, scholarships, and educational reimbursement. The role requires integrity, discretion, sound judgment, attention to detail, and consistent adherence to Nucor's safety, housekeeping, and confidentiality standards. Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.
