Residency Program Director Transitional Year Residency Program

Signature-Healthcare-Brockton Hospital is seeking an experienced and dedicated physician leader to serve as the Program Director for our ACGME-accredited Transitional Year Residency Program. The Program Director will be responsible for the comprehensive oversight and continued development of the program in alignment with ACGME requirements and institutional goals. This leadership role involves curriculum development, faculty and resident mentorship, administrative oversight, and collaboration with the sponsoring institution, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC), as well as other program directors.

The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to medical education, accreditation compliance, and resident success, while fostering a culture of academic and professional excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Program Administration:
    • Ensure compliance with all ACGME requirements and guidelines for the Transitional Year Residency Program.
    • Oversee the program's educational curriculum, evaluation systems, and overall learning environment.
    • Manage day-to-day operations, including scheduling, policy development, and communication with institutional leadership.
  • Recruitment & Selection:
    • Lead recruitment efforts for high-quality resident candidates through ERAS and the NRMP Match (including application review, interviewing, and familiarity with ERAS/NRMP platforms).
    • Develop and implement fair, transparent, and mission-driven selection processes.
  • Teaching & Mentorship:
    • Provide direct teaching, mentorship, and evaluation of residents.
    • Primary responsibility for daily morning report and noon didactic lectures.
    • Supervise and support core faculty in delivering high-quality educational experiences.
    • Create and maintain a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Accreditation & Compliance:
    • Prepare for and participate in ACGME site visits and reporting.
    • Maintain current program documentation including ADS updates, milestones, and annual program evaluations.
    • Ensure continuous quality improvement through ongoing assessment and program enhancements.
  • Collaboration:
    • Work closely with BIDMC, the sponsoring institution, to ensure alignment with institutional policies and strategic goals.
    • Collaborate with other residency and fellowship program directors on shared educational initiatives and interdisciplinary training.
  • Resident Evaluation & Feedback:
    • Oversee formative and summative evaluations, milestone reporting, and semi-annual reviews.
    • Address resident concerns, promote well-being, and ensure appropriate remediation when necessary.
  • Administrative support for past residents:
    • Complete necessary VOT (verification of training) documents, licensing paperwork, etc. As needed to support advancement of past residents.

Qualifications:

  • MD or DO with current board certification in their respective specialty.
  • Minimum of 3 years of educational and/or administrative experience in graduate medical education (preferred).
  • Prior involvement in ACGME-accredited residency training programs.
  • Eligibility for an unrestricted medical license in the state of Massachusetts.
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching, leadership, and program development.
  • Knowledge of ACGME Common Program Requirements and accreditation processes.
