Procurement Manager

The Procurement Manager leads and continuously improves the commercial procurement supply chain, executing the organization's procurement strategy to ensure a reliable, cost-effective, and compliant flow of materials. This role oversees the daily operations of the Commercial Procurement Department, including staff management and training, supply continuity, supplier agreements, and adherence to regulatory and internal procedures. The Procurement Manager collaborates closely with other departments to meet corporate performance metrics, resolve supply issues, and drive ongoing process and cost improvements within a manufacturing environment, with preference for aerospace experience.

Responsibilities

• Manage the daily operations of the Commercial Procurement Department to ensure a continuous supply of materials that supports business objectives.
• Lead, train, and supervise procurement staff, providing guidance, performance feedback, and development opportunities.
• Ensure compliance with departmental key performance indicators (KPIs) related to supply chain delivery performance, shortages, and expediting activities.
• Develop and execute strategic plans for negotiating and obtaining approval of long-term supplier agreements (LTAs).
• Oversee material order planning and maintenance for all commercial products to ensure accurate and timely procurement.
• Manage and maintain data within the MRP system to support accurate planning, ordering, and inventory control.
• Lead inventory management and reduction initiatives to optimize stock levels and working capital while maintaining service levels.
• Conduct risk management activities, including supplier performance monitoring, supplier assessment and selection, new item implementation, and issue resolution.
• Identify, research, and implement cost reduction initiatives and projects across the supply chain.
• Drive process improvement activities within the procurement function to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and compliance.
• Ensure department compliance with customer requirements, regulatory standards, and internal rules and procedures.
• Continuously manage and optimize the supply chain to meet current and emerging company objectives, including evaluating current and potential suppliers' capabilities to meet requirements.
• Prepare, report, and present departmental activities, performance, and initiatives in company meetings and through monthly reports.
• Coordinate efforts and initiatives between the Procurement Department and other departments to support corporate metrics and resolve cross-functional issues.

Essential Skills

• At least 7 years of procurement experience within a manufacturing environment (aerospace industry experience preferred).
• Minimum of 2 years of experience managing and leading a team.
• Bachelor's degree.
• Demonstrated expertise in procurement and purchasing practices within a commercial manufacturing setting.
• Strong supply chain management skills, including planning, inventory control, and supplier relationship management.
• Experience working with MRP systems and maintaining accurate procurement-related data.
• Proven ability to negotiate and manage long-term agreements with suppliers.
• Capability to manage risk across the supply base, including supplier assessment, selection, and performance monitoring.
• Experience driving cost reduction initiatives and achieving measurable savings.
• Ability to ensure compliance with customer, regulatory, and internal procedures.
• Strong leadership and staff development skills within a procurement or supply chain function.
• Effective communication and presentation skills for reporting departmental activities and performance.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in the aerospace manufacturing sector.
• Background in commercial product procurement and supply chain optimization.
• Familiarity with process improvement methodologies within procurement or supply chain operations.
• Ability to collaborate cross-functionally with operations, engineering, finance, and other departments.
• Strong analytical skills for evaluating supplier capabilities and supply chain performance.
• Proficiency in identifying and implementing inventory reduction and cost-down initiatives.

Work Environment

This role is based onsite in Long Beach within a manufacturing environment, working closely with production, operations, and other business functions. The position requires regular interaction with internal teams and suppliers, as well as hands-on engagement with procurement systems such as MRP tools and related software. The work setting emphasizes collaboration, structured processes, and adherence to regulatory and customer requirements, with a focus on maintaining a reliable and efficient supply chain.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Long Beach, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $58.00 - $63.00/hr.
