Letter of Credit Closer

Job Description

Join a fast-paced Documentation and Closing team where your work directly enables complex commercial transactions to close on time and with strong control discipline. You will deepen your expertise in letters of credit, real estate banking products, and end-to-end closing execution while collaborating with partners across the firm. This role offers meaningful visibility, mobility, and growth through exposure to diverse deal structures and stakeholders. If you enjoy detail-driven work, problem solving, and delivering high-quality outcomes under deadlines, this is an opportunity to build a long-term career.

As a Letter of Credit Closer in the Documentation and Closing team, you manage end-to-end closing activities for commercial letters of credit and related products across community development and real estate banking. You ensure closing conditions are met, documentation is complete and compliant, and transactions are processed accurately and on schedule. You coordinate with internal partners to clear exceptions, confirm critical terms, and keep stakeholders informed throughout the transaction lifecycle. You contribute to a strong risk and control environment by maintaining audit-ready records, following procedures, and escalating material risks with sound judgment. You help deliver a consistent client and partner experience through accurate execution in a high-volume pipeline.

This role supports a demanding portfolio that may include new issuances, amendments, and renewals, as well as transactions involving single-bank and multi-bank collaboration. You will interpret commercial credit documentation, validate operational requirements, and align closing deliverables to service level and quality standards. The work requires strong organization, attention to detail, and clear communication across multiple teams and systems. You will also contribute to process improvements and department projects as assigned.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Review commercial credit documentation to confirm requirements for issuing, amending, and renewing letters of credit
  • Examine documentation and due diligence items to verify closing conditions are satisfied and materials are complete and compliant
  • Validate critical terms prior to closing, including parties, amounts, dates, authorizations, and document requirements
  • Prepare settlement statements aligned to fees, cash collateral, and related financial transactions
  • Coordinate with internal partners to resolve exceptions, obtain missing items, and drive timely closing outcomes
  • Support due diligence and collateral documentation needs, including title, survey, entity formation, and insurance requirements
  • Process closings in designated systems and ensure accurate booking and recordkeeping
  • Track pipeline assignments, manage deadlines, and maintain service level and quality standards
  • Identify discrepancies, resolve issues, and escalate material risks, overdue items, or recurring themes appropriately
  • Maintain strong control discipline, including adherence to procedures, approvals, segregation of duties, and documentation standards
  • Contribute to team projects and continuous improvement efforts as assigned

Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills:

  • Minimum 3 years of closing commercial real estate transactions, including letters of credit and construction, revolving, or term loan structures
  • Minimum 2 years of trade finance or documentary operations experience or comparable banking operations experience with strong controls focus
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret commercial loan and real estate documentation and translate requirements into executable closing steps
  • Working knowledge of letters of credit workflows and documentation across issuance, amendments, settlements, and closing activities
  • Knowledge of real estate collateral and due diligence requirements, including title, insurance, and flood insurance where applicable
  • Proven ability to manage multiple transactions concurrently and meet deadlines in a high-volume environment
  • Strong attention to detail with a consistent track record of accurate, compliant execution
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to partner across teams
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word, with comfort working across multiple systems

Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills:

  • Experience supporting bond-enhanced or direct pay letter of credit structures
  • Experience with single-bank and multi-bank transaction coordination
  • Prior experience partnering closely with legal, risk, compliance, and operations functions to clear closing exceptions
  • Familiarity with process improvement, quality assurance routines, and operational reporting
  • Bachelor's degree

Additional Information:

  • Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
  • Work schedules will be full-time in office, on a 40-hour per week schedule.
