Software Product Line Manager Software Defined Radio (SDR) Systems-on-Module Portfolio

We are seeking a Software Product Line Manager to lead the strategy, roadmap, and business performance of an emerging Software Defined Radio (SDR) Systems-on-Module (SOM) portfolio aimed at the aerospace and defense market.

This role owns software strategy across a rapidly growing portfolio of autonomous sensing & processing building blocks aimed at phased array radar, electronic warfare (EW), SIGINT, and similar applications. The successful candidate will drive the evolution of the portfolio from hardware-centric products to scalable software-centric platforms leveraging open architectures, AI-enabled workflows, and ecosystem partnerships.

This is a business leadership role responsible for revenue, opex, product vision, roadmap definition, prioritization, market positioning and differentiation, customer alignment, software monetization, and ecosystem compatibility. The role partners closely with software architects, engineering managers, and program teams who are responsible for day-to-day development and execution.

The ideal candidate combines strong product strategy and business acumen with a deep understanding of SDR architectures, embedded systems, RF signal processing, FPGA/GPU computing, AI-enabled tools and workflows, and open software ecosystems.

U.S. Citizenship required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and own the vision, strategy, roadmap, and business plan for the software spanning the SDR SOM portfolio.
  • Establish a common software architecture and platform strategy that maximizes reuse, scalability, and minimizes time-to-market across products.
  • Drive software differentiation aligned with customer mission needs, competitive dynamics, and emerging defense standards.
  • Lead the transition toward software-centric and platform-based business models, including recurring software revenue opportunities.
  • Define product strategies spanning embedded software, middleware, APIs, SDKs, AI-enabled workflows, cloud/edge integration, containerized deployment, and open architecture frameworks.
  • Develop business cases, pricing models, licensing strategies, and investment plans for software offerings.
  • Prioritize roadmap investments and feature development based on customer value, technical feasibility, and business impact.
  • Engage directly with customers, partners, sales and business development teams to understand mission requirements, operational challenges, and emerging opportunities.
  • Translate customer needs into differentiated product capabilities and platform strategies. Help craft internal requirements.
  • Support customer demonstrations, capture activities, technical briefings, and strategic growth initiatives.
  • Monitor market trends, competitive offerings, and emerging technologies in AI-enabled RF systems, EW, tactical communications, spectrum operations, edge computing, and autonomous sensing.
  • Define value propositions, competitive positioning, and go-to-market strategies that maximize sales.
  • Drive adoption of open standards and software ecosystems including GNU Radio, VITA/VRT, CMOSS, SOSA, and OpenVPX.
  • Define API, SDK, developer enablement, and software integration strategies that encourage third-party adoption and plug seamlessly into customer-preferred AI tools and workflows.
  • Lead portability, reusable software modules, and cross-platform software strategies.
  • Develop partnerships with software vendors, AI providers, and strategic ecosystem partners.
  • Define ecosystem engagement models that promote ease of use and accelerate customer adoption.
  • Partner with software, FPGA, RF, AI, and systems engineering teams to guide architectural decisions and long-term technology roadmaps.
  • Influence software partitioning, compute architectures, data transport frameworks, and real-time processing approaches.
  • Drive adoption of AI-assisted development tools, intelligent RF workflows, and modern software engineering practices.
  • Guide developer environment strategies that integrate seamlessly with customer-preferred tools and workflows.
  • Evaluate tradeoffs across CPU, GPU, FPGA, and AI accelerator implementations for future products.
  • Own software business profit and loss. Responsible for revenue, margin, opex, capex, and profit.
  • Establish KPIs and success metrics for product adoption, software quality, development efficiency, customer satisfaction, and software reuse.
  • Use customer feedback, operational data, and market insights to guide investment and roadmap decisions.
  • Lead strategic roadmap reviews and investment planning with executive leadership.
  • Coordinate across engineering, program management, cybersecurity, quality, operations, and field support organizations.
  • Ensure alignment between product strategy, business objectives, and execution plans.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  • 8+ years of product line management involving software for SDR, radar, SIGINT, EW, and/or phased array market.
  • Experience managing complex hardware and software products throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Strong understanding of:
    • SDR architectures
    • Embedded Linux and real-time software systems
    • FPGA-based and heterogeneous compute architectures
    • Open software frameworks and ecosystems
    • Agile software development environments
    • AI-enabled software development workflows
  • Familiarity with phased array, radar, EW, and RF signal processing
  • Experience working directly with aerospace and defense customers.
  • Strong leadership, communication, prioritization, and executive presentation skills.
  • Ability to translate complex technical concepts into product strategy and business outcomes.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with EW, SIGINT, radar, phased array systems, tactical communications, datalinks, or spectrum operations.
  • Experience defining software platform, ecosystem, or developer enablement strategies.
  • Familiarity with AI/ML deployment in edge RF and defense systems.
  • MBA or advanced technical degree.

Desired Characteristics

  • Strategic thinker with strong business and technical judgment.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a passion for building a new business around emerging market opportunities.
  • Strong systems-level perspective and customer focus.
  • Effective cross-functional leader who can influence across engineering, business, and customer organizations.
  • Comfortable operating in a growth business with fast-paced environment and significant ambiguity.
  • Passion for advancing software-defined, AI-enabled sensing, communications, and spectrum systems.
