Workers' Compensation Claims Investigator
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Insurance, or a related field and four (4) years experience in the administration, negotiation, adjudication, and resolution of Workers' Compensation claims (preferably with a Georgia self-insurer). Professional experience can be substituted on a year-for-year basis in lieu of a college degree. Thorough knowledge of Georgia Workers' Compensation laws required. Extensive background in processing claims of a catastrophic nature required.
INTERVIEW SELECTION PROCESS: The selection process may include one or more components to demonstrate applicants' knowledge, skills and abilities in job related areas. These may include exercises such as practical demonstrations, written communications, oral interviews and/or competency assessments.
SUMMARY Serves the Authority through the investigation and processing of claims of a highly complex and detailed nature for benefit entitlement under Workers' Compensation. Under general direction, in an advanced working-level professional capacity, determines the diagnosis, treatment, prognosis, and compensability of claims for medical and indemnity benefit entitlement incidental to injuries which occur in the workplace. Carries out major assignments in conducting the operations of the business. Performs work that affects business operations to a substantial degree.
