Utility Forklift Driver - Multiple Shifts Available

Job Description

This position reports to and works with the EHS Manager to assist in maintaining the facility cleanliness and waste management operations. Perform a variety of functions to control, separate, clean and maintain the compactor area, scrap metal areas, as well as general facility yard areas. Organizational skills and abilities to communicate efficiently and effectively are of paramount importance. Ability to maintain and take responsibility for the assigned areas.

Available Shifts

• 1st Shift Mon-Thur 5am-3:30pm
• 2nd Shift Mon-Thurs 3:30-2am
• Weekend 1st Shift Fri-Sun 5am-5pm
• Weekend 2nd Shift Fri-Sun 5pm-5am

PRINCIPAL DUTIES:

1. Receive oral and/or written instructions from EHS Manager.

2. Separate and coordinate trash, cardboard, and metals to appropriate disposal bins.

3. Monitor trash and cardboard compactors to ensure no contamination.

4. Check material for defective conditions, report non-conformities to EHS Manager.

5. Safely move material to disposal locations

6. Follow all SWP3 best management practices

7. Conduct yard inspections, cleaning and maintaining a trash free facility.

8. Conduct cleanup of trash/material from the compactor dock areas, barrel shed, scrap metal open top containers.

9. Maintain a clean and organized waste area. (trash/cardboard compactors, scrap metal open tops, barrel shed, any additional disposal containers)

10. Perform routine performance checks on the material handling equipment such as checking horn, tires, lights, forks and frame.

11. Exercise great caution and maintain alertness at all times when operating forklift truck in order to avoid injury to pedestrians, other drivers, self and/or damage to materials.

12. Manage the dumping of plant wide trash/cardboard bins into their designated compactor.

13. Operation of compactor equipment

14. Assistance with Spill Response and clean up

15. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required for this position:

1. High school diploma or equivalent.

2. Ability to organize work, meet deadlines and work with accuracy.

3. Ability to perform manual labor such as shoveling, sweeping, bending,

4. Strong verbal and written communication skills.

5. Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills for coordinating daily waste management and reporting issues.

6. Ability to safely operate dock equipment, Forklift and pallet jacks, compactor.

7. Knowledge and/or willingness to learn sustainable waste management practices, Best management Practices for environmental compliance.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an associate to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Very repetitive work and mounting/dismounting several times while operating fork truck. Pushing, pulling, lifting, and carrying of heavy and/or bulky material required. Weight amounts may vary from 5 pounds to 50 pounds, any amount over 50 pounds requires physical or mechanical help. Continuous movement of arms and repetitious twisting motions of upper and lower back to move and reposition load(s), clean material off floor level. Must be able to step up on fork truck several times per shift and use upper body to support body weight when stepping up on fork truck. Continuous mental/visual demand required extensively when operating fork truck. Varied degrees of mental demand required when organizing bins/pallets in work area.
