Your Specific Responsibilities:

This is a high-volume pharmacy.

Assists Pharmacy Manager in the establishment of new or additional procedures to be in compliance with all policies, processes and requirements from Central Pharmacy. Achieve operational objectives, resolve and prevent operational problems of the FLDOHMDC Pharmacy. Ensures continue quality assurance and improvement activities to resolve and prevent discrepancies between the medications received, documentations and information in QS/1 and Central Pharmacy system by investigating, assessing, analyzing and making recommendations to Pharmacy manager, Senior Leader and Central Pharmacy on an ongoing basis.

Operates a motor vehicle utilized for the regular distribution of medications sent daily for DOH Central Pharmacy to the Warehouse at the Florida Department of health in Miami-Dade County, and further taken for local distribution to all FLDOHMDC clinical programs and sites in order to complete the change in the chain of custody; maintains the safety and integrity of the products while in transit from the warehouse to each of the clinical programs and sites. Verifies with the receiving program that the order is correct by acquiring a signature of the receiving party. Travels to clinical programs and sites to pick up expired medications and coordinates the return to the DOH Central Pharmacy, maintaining a record of all expired medication picked up from each program and returned to the Central Pharmacy returned.

Performs firsthand on-site analysis of operational problems with medication distribution to the FLDHOMDC programs and clinics, aimed at ensuring continued quality assurance and perpetual inventories; advice interdisciplinary staff teams to develop optimum resolution for clinical programs to be in compliance with policies, processes and requirements from Central Pharmacy and FLSOH. Performs a variety of tasks relating to management of medications which include receiving, verifying, and reconciling requisitions sent from both the central Pharmacy and Cardinal Health on behalf of the different programs within the Florida Department of health in Miami Dade County. Prepares and maintains records of all medications received at the warehouse and delivered to their respective programs. Forwards all required documentation upon receipt of medication requisition from Cardinal Health to the Bureau of Statewide Pharmaceutical Services. Retrieves all medication files and documentation upon request. Temporarily custodian of medications received, stored, and distributed from the warehouse to the different sites. Coordinates with all DOH programs to determine their medication needs in order to submit bulk orders to the Central Pharmacy via the Florida Department of health Pharmaceutical Forms Systems. Responsible for stocking and rotating stock at the Pharmacy to maintain inventory and verify that expiration dates are correct.

Assist the Miami Dade County Health Department Administrator with coordinating the monthly quarterly pharmacy inventory as required by DOH policy. Responsible for verification of pharmaceutical inventory received from central pharmacy and for the proper storage of all medications so that the integrity of medications is not compromised.

In addition, ensures that the cold chain management of vaccines is maintained from receipt until delivery to prevent adulteration and loss of vaccine supplies. Assists manager in correcting any inventory variance.

Performs other related duties as required.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of record-keeping procedures
  • Ability to maintain accurate records
  • Working knowledge of QS/1 Pharmacy Software, Collaborate with Insurance Companies, Q Flow patient work flow system.
  • Ability to receive, sort, verify, and store medications and supplies.
  • Ability to prepare purchase requisitions.
