Manager of Emergency Services (RN)
She Recruits is seeking an experienced Emergency Services nursing leader to serve as Manager of the Emergency Department for a large, high-acuity acute care hospital. This leader is responsible for clinical operations, staff management, service quality, regulatory compliance, fiscal oversight, and departmental performance across the Emergency Services unit. The ideal candidate is a strong, hands-on ED leader with proven experience in high-volume acute care and a consistent track record of clinical excellence, team development, and operational efficiency.
The Manager of Emergency Services provides day-to-day leadership for clinical operations, ensuring high-quality, patient-centered care while supporting departmental financial, regulatory, and staffing objectives. This role oversees workflow, hires and evaluates staff, supports onboarding and education, maintains compliance with hospital and regulatory standards, and partners with the medical staff to ensure seamless coordination and exceptional patient outcomes.
Key responsibilities include providing leadership for clinical, financial, operational, and employee-related functions across the Emergency Department, serving as a clinical resource and liaison to physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary teams, maintaining departmental performance within budgetary expectations and regulatory standards, developing, implementing, and evaluating departmental policies and procedures within defined scope of service, recommending and maintaining sufficient qualified staff to deliver safe, compliant patient care, overseeing hiring, onboarding, training, performance evaluations, corrective actions, and staff development, promoting a culture of accountability, high performance, and continuous improvement, ensuring staff are kept informed of hospital and departmental updates, integrating departmental services with the hospital's overall mission and coordinating effectively with other units, and fostering a professional, collaborative environment that supports patient safety and positive outcomes.
Qualifications include a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing required, Registered Nurse (RN) licensure, minimum 2 years of recent acute care ED Charge RN experience (within the last year), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within 90 days of hire, Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire, Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course (ENPC) within 1 year of hire, Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) within 1 year of hire, strong ED clinical experience, and demonstrated leadership capability.
