Product Manager, CFD Visualization Tools
Location: Remote (North America)
Travel: ~25% (customer visits, conferences)
Department: Product Management
Reports To: President
About the Role
We're looking for a technically fluent, execution-focused Product Manager to lead product execution and contribute to product direction for our CFD visualization and post-processing tools, used by engineers and scientists worldwide.
This role sits at the center of engineering, sales, support, and our customers. You'll translate real-world CFD workflows into clear product requirements, well-formed user stories, and high-quality releases. You'll also spend meaningful time with customers to make sure our product direction reflects real market needs.
This is a hands-on role. You'll work closely with software developers, UX, and documentation to make sure features are not only built, but built correctly, clearly, and in a way that supports engineers' real workflows.
We want someone who's comfortable getting into the details, willing to challenge assumptions (including leadership's), and motivated to build great engineering tools for CFD practitioners worldwide.
What You'll Do
Customer & Market Engagement
- Visit customer sites and conduct remote interviews to understand real-world CFD workflows
- Identify friction points in post-processing, automation, and insight extraction
- Gather and validate feedback on in-progress and upcoming features
- Conduct win/loss analysis and collaborate with sales and support to identify trends
- Represent the product at industry events and user meetings
Product Definition & Execution
- Translate validated problems into clear product requirements, well-structured user stories, and explicit, testable acceptance criteria
- Partner with leadership to refine roadmap priorities based on validated customer needs and technical feasibility
- Work closely with engineering to clarify requirements and resolve ambiguity
- Collaborate with UX to ensure usability and workflow consistency
- Partner with documentation to ensure accuracy and clarity
- Validate delivered functionality against user needs before release
Product Direction & Strategic Input
- Contribute structured customer and market insight to inform roadmap planning
- Provide thoughtful challenges and alternative perspectives to senior leadership on product decisions
- Help shape positioning and messaging in collaboration with marketing
- Contribute to technical blog posts, webinars, and other customer-facing content
In the near term, this role will focus heavily on execution excellence across several major initiatives already underway. As domain expertise and organizational trust deepen, the role will increasingly influence broader product direction and long-term roadmap decisions.
What We're Looking For
Required
- Master's degree or equivalent experience in Engineering (Aerospace, Mechanical, or related field)
- Hands-on experience with CFD tools (e.g., ANSYS Fluent, STAR-CCM+, OpenFOAM, etc.)
- Strong understanding of CFD post-processing workflows
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to translate complex technical workflows into structured requirements
- Willingness to travel approximately 25%
- Must reside in North America
Preferred
- Prior experience in product management or product ownership
- Experience writing technical content for engineers or scientists
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Understands CFD deeply but is more excited about building tools than running simulations
- Comfortable working across engineering, sales, support, and leadership
- Detail-oriented and rigorous about acceptance criteria and definition of done
- Not afraid to challenge assumptions with data and structured reasoning
- Pragmatic, curious, and execution-focused
- Motivated by long-term product quality and customer trust
