Maintenance Assistant
Location: Royal Oaks Nursing and Rehabilitation Center | Urbandale, IA
Royal Oaks Nursing and Rehabilitation Center is seeking a skilled and reliable Maintenance Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will perform a variety of maintenance and repair tasks to help ensure our facility remains safe, functional, and welcoming for residents, staff, and visitors.
Position Details
Status: Full-Time
Pay Rate: $23.00 per hour
Key Responsibilities
Maintain and repair facility structures, including walls, doors, ceilings, windows, mirrors, flooring, and baseboards
Perform routine maintenance and repairs involving plumbing, electrical systems, carpentry, mechanical equipment, and other building systems
Assist with light grounds maintenance, including mowing, trimming, sweeping, and maintaining parking lots and sidewalks
Replace light bulbs and ensure all lighting, including emergency and exit lighting, remains operational
Assist with the facility's preventative maintenance program to ensure equipment and machinery operate safely and efficiently
Move and arrange furniture and equipment as needed
Coordinate maintenance work with nursing staff when working in resident care areas
Respond promptly to routine, urgent, and emergency maintenance requests
Participate in on-call rotations for weekends and holidays as needed
Follow all facility safety policies, maintenance schedules, and departmental procedures
Qualifications
Previous maintenance, building trades, or related experience preferred
Knowledge of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and general building maintenance preferred
Familiarity with maintenance tools, equipment, and cleaning materials
Strong troubleshooting, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
