The OEW modernization project involves re-architecting a legacy thick-client application into a modern cloud-native web platform.

Roles & Responsibilities

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Senior Technical Architect to lead the architecture, technical discovery, modernization strategy, and customer engagement for the Allegion OEW (Order Entry Works) Modernization Program.

The architect will work closely with Allegion business and technology stakeholders to transform a legacy VC++/MFC-based order management platform into a modern Azure-based cloud-native application leveraging AI-assisted modernization accelerators and modern web technologies.

Key Responsibilities

Solution Architecture & Technical Leadership

• Own end-to-end solution architecture for the OEW modernization initiative.
• Lead application assessment, technical discovery, and architecture definition.
• Define modernization roadmap from legacy thick-client architecture to cloud-native web platform.
• Create architecture artifacts, reference designs, integration patterns, and technical standards.
• Review and validate AI-generated modernization outputs.

Customer & Stakeholder Engagement

• Serve as the primary onsite architecture lead for Allegion stakeholders.
• Conduct architecture workshops, technical reviews, design walkthroughs, and solution presentations.
• Collaborate with business users, architects, security teams, and development teams.
• Support requirements gathering, BDD feature identification, capability mapping, and traceability discussions.

Azure Cloud Architecture

• Design and implement solutions leveraging:
  • Azure API Management
  • Azure App Services
  • Azure SQL Database

• Define domain decomposition strategy for:
  • Order Service
  • Configuration Service
  • Hardware Retrieval Engine
  • File Transfer Service
• Review modernization feasibility and migration risks for large-scale codebases.

Integration Architecture

• Design enterprise integrations with:
  • Allegion P04 Systems
  • AS/400 ERP
  • SOAP Services
  • REST APIs
  • Azure Service Bus Topics & Subscriptions
• Define event-driven integration standards and messaging patterns.

Security Architecture

• Implement enterprise security patterns using:
  • Okta
  • OAuth 2.0
  • OpenID Connect (OIDC)
  • JWT Authentication
  • Azure Key Vault
• Work with Allegion security teams on cybersecurity and compliance requirements.

AI-Assisted Modernization

• Guide teams in leveraging AI modernization accelerators.
• Review generated target architecture, BDD feature sets, traceability matrices, and generated code.
• Define governance and quality standards for AI-assisted development.

DevOps & Observability

• Define CI/CD architecture and deployment strategies.
• Establish monitoring and operational standards using:

  • Log Analytics
  • Azure Monitor
• Lead performance tuning and production readiness reviews.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience working with Allegion, Trane, Schlage, or manufacturing customers preferred.
• Microsoft Azure Architect Expert Certification preferred.
