Job description

Graduate Program Coordinator

Georgetown University comprises two unique campuses in the nation's capital. With the Hilltop Campus located in the heart of the historic Georgetown neighborhood, and the Capitol Campus, just minutes from the U.S. Capitol and U.S. Supreme Court, Georgetown University offers rigorous academic programs, a global perspective, and unparalleled opportunities to engage with Washington, D.C. Our community is a close-knit group of remarkable individuals driven by intellectual inquiry, a commitment to social justice, and a shared dedication to making a difference in the world.

The Graduate Program Coordinator is responsible for supporting the academic, administrative, operational, enrollment management, and strategic communication functions of assigned graduate programs within the College of Arts and Sciences. The Graduate Program Coordinator reports to the Department Chair and collaborates closely with faculty, university offices, students, alumni, and external stakeholders to advance program goals and operations.

This position serves as a key operational and strategic partner in managing the day-to-day functions of assigned programs, with responsibilities spanning enrollment management, admissions and merit aid administration, marketing and communications, student and faculty support, event coordination, and program operations. The incumbent designs and implements recruitment and yield strategies to support enrollment goals, manages admissions workflows and communications, and oversees digital outreach efforts including website management, social media, marketing materials, and public relations initiatives to raise program visibility and engagement. The role also requires awareness of financial policies, program expenditures, and the operational implications of budget-related decisions associated with events, financial aid, and other program activities.

In collaboration with the department's Business Manager and Administrative Coordinator, the Graduate Program Coordinator also supports academic and administrative operations by coordinating course scheduling and registration processes, assisting with program assessment and reporting, supporting research and student engagement activities, and ensuring compliance with university policies and procedures. In addition, the position plans and executes special events such as orientations, commencement activities, academic programming, alumni engagement events, and recruitment initiatives while monitoring budgets and operational logistics.

The role requires strong collaboration, organizational, communication, analytical, and project management skills, as well as the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic academic environment. Duties may also include broader program support functions related to alumni relations, community development, and other operational needs as assigned by program leadership.

This position reports to the Department Chair and works closely with the department's Business Manager and Administrative Coordinator, faculty, and alumni. The incumbent will call, email, and meet with prospective students. They will work closely with all functional areas within the College Dean's Office staff as well as prospective students, current students, alumni, vendors/suppliers, industry connections, and many other audiences. The incumbent will liaise with other Georgetown University offices such as Graduate Admissions, University Registrar, Office of Global Services, Student Financial Services and Financial Affairs and other academic units.

The incumbent should demonstrate a proactive and adaptable approach to their work, remaining responsive to the evolving needs of the program and university community.

  • Events management experience.
  • An ability to understand the nuanced needs and characteristics of this specialized academic program, and the ability to authentically articulate the unique opportunities and value.
