Intervention Coordinator

Camino Nuevo Charter Academy (CNCA) is a community of high-performing public schools that utilizes a comprehensive approach to prepare students from preschool through high school for success in college and in life. We integrate academic rigor, community, family, and wellness to empower students to thrive in a culturally connected and changing world. Founded in 2000, Camino Nuevo Charter Academy students represent the neighborhood of MacArthur Park west of downtown Los Angeles, a community that is one of the most under-resourced and densely populated neighborhoods in Los Angeles. Currently, CNCA has eight campuses that serve over 3,500 students from pre-K through 12th grade.

The Opportunity

Under the supervision of the Principal, the Intervention Coordinator supports TK-12 teachers and student learning through coordination of the school's RTI program. Coordination of support includes a variety of activities including data analysis, development of intervention course programming, supporting with the professional development for intervention teachers, and communication with students and families. The Intervention Coordinator must be a visionary, eager to be in the forefront of educational practices, and must embrace the challenge of demonstrating that public education in a low-income, primarily immigrant, multilingual area can succeed.

Essential Functions

  • Support the Principal to hire, train, and support Intervention Teachers, working to ensure that they are effectively addressing the core academic needs of their group and motivating them to participate
  • Gather school-wide student achievement data to help the Principal determine areas of need for intervention
  • Support the Principal to coordinate and execute early intervention and targeted intervention programs through an RTI approach
  • Provide input on the design of effective structures for intervention within and outside of the general school day
  • Provide small group intervention instruction throughout the school day as needed
  • Support teachers with the development of intervention plans for students who are below grade-level and/or struggling to meet teacher expectations
  • Participate in Student Success Team (SST) meetings and support next steps as required
  • Support the Principal with providing training and technical assistance for RTI staff, with a particular focus on Tier 2 intervention
  • Participate actively in school-wide events as a member of the Site Leadership Team
  • Research, identify, and maintain inventory of intervention materials
  • Maintain regular, punctual attendance
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Demonstrated ability to analyze data and identify key areas for intervention
