Interim Associate Vice President of Academic Affairs: CTE and Workforce Development

The Associate Vice President of Academic Affairs for Career Technical Education and Workforce Development provides strategic leadership for career technical education, workforce development, and economic development initiatives at Lane Community College. The position leads the development and implementation of innovative career education and workforce training programs in collaboration with internal and external partners, fostering strong business, industry, community, and K12 partnerships to meet regional workforce needs. The AVP also provides leadership for key academic functions within Academic Affairs, serves as a member of the President's Cabinet, and represents the Vice President of Academic Affairs on internal and external committees, meetings, and other official assignments as delegated.

Position Purpose: The Associate Vice President of Academic Affairs for CTE and Workforce Development, working in partnership with the Vice President of Academic Affairs, works to achieve the vision and mission for academic affairs in the college while providing leadership and management for the divisions and departments they oversee. Housed within the Career Technical Education and Workforce Development division with Academic Affairs are the following divisions and programs: Advanced Technology, Apprenticeship, Aviation Academy, Business and Computer Science, Career Pathways, Arts, Health Professions, High School Connections, Cooperative Education, and non-credit career technical and workforce programs, including oversight of the Carl Perkins grant.

Essential Functions: Provide strategic leadership for Career Technical Education (CTE) and workforce development initiatives aligned with the college's mission, strategic priorities, and regional workforce needs. Lead the development, implementation, evaluation, and continuous improvement of credit and non-credit workforce and CTE programs in collaboration with deans, directors, faculty, staff, employers, and community partners. Foster partnerships with business, industry, labor, government, K-12, higher education, economic development organizations, and workforce agencies to identify training needs, expand career pathways, and strengthen regional economic development. Serve as the college's liaison to local, state, and federal workforce and economic development organizations and represent the college in regional initiatives. Lead strategic planning, resource development, grant and contract activities, budgeting (including Perkins funding), and program implementation to support workforce and CTE initiatives. Oversee marketing, outreach, enrollment growth, and community engagement efforts for workforce and CTE programs. Develop and support college-wide advisory structures, including CTE advisory boards, to strengthen employer engagement and program quality. Supervise administrators, faculty, and staff, fostering a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performing work environment that supports teaching, learning, and student success. Ensure compliance with accreditation standards and lead assessment and evaluation of programs, services, and student outcomes to support continuous improvement. Promote equity, diversity, inclusion, and shared governance in all aspects of leadership and decision-making. Ensure the implementation of the College's Affirmative Action and Equal Employment Opportunities concerning policies, goals, and timetables in assigned areas. Ensure staff development on diversity, inclusive climate, and respectful learning and working environment issues. Problem solve and manage sensitive information with appropriate awareness of FERPA standards; maintain confidentiality and sensitivity to the privacy needs of students. Perform other related duties as assigned by the Vice President of Academic Affairs.
