Job description

EHS Special Projects Program Manager

A problem isn't truly solved until it's solved for all. That's why Googlers build products that help create opportunities for everyone, whether down the street or across the globe. As a Program Manager at Google, you'll lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish working with stakeholders to plan requirements, manage project schedules, identify risks, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. Your projects will often span offices, time zones, and hemispheres. It's your job to coordinate the players and keep them up to date on progress and deadlines.

As the Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Special Projects Program Manager (PgM), you will be a high-impact, strategic leader responsible for directing critical, non-routine safety initiatives across complex and dynamic environments. Unlike traditional, site-level safety operations, this role focuses on translating high-stakes ambiguity into standardized global frameworks, supporting next-generation infrastructure, and managing large-scale organizational change. Acting as a central subject matter expert and cross-functional bridge, the PgM advocates a culture of zero harm by integrating proactive safety design, robust risk mitigation, and strong vendor governance into the core of the business's product and infrastructure roadmaps.

The AI and Infrastructure team is redefining what's possible. We empower Google customers with breakthrough capabilities and insights by delivering AI and Infrastructure at unparalleled scale, efficiency, reliability and velocity. Our customers include Googlers, Google Cloud customers, and billions of Google users worldwide. We're the driving force behind Google's groundbreaking innovations, empowering the development of our cutting-edge AI models, delivering unparalleled computing power to global services, and providing the essential platforms that enable developers to build the future. From software to hardware our teams are shaping the future of world-leading hyperscale computing, with key teams working on the development of our TPUs, Vertex AI for Google Cloud, Google Global Networking, Data Center operations, systems research, and much more.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. US: $188000 - $274000 (USD) + 20% bonus target + equity + benefits.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify special site-level solutions and scale them into global business unit procedures (BUPs) to drive consistency and efficiency.
  • Lead organization through complex transitions for moving sites from construction to operational readiness.
  • Perform specialized Job Risk Assessments (JRAs) for non-standard equipment and high-risk activities like energized electrical work (EEW) or confined space entry in new environments.
  • Track and trend issues related to agreement performance and create scalable solutions.
  • Serve as the primary EHS point of contact for ambiguous projects where no clear precedent exists, defining the path forward for "Zero Harm."

Google is proud to be an equal opportunity and affirmative action employer. We are committed to building a workforce that is representative of the users we serve, creating a culture of belonging, and providing an equal employment opportunity regardless of race, creed, color, religion, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity/expression, national origin, disability, age, genetic information, veteran status, marital status, pregnancy or related condition (including breastfeeding), expecting or parents-to-be, criminal histories consistent with legal requirements, or any other basis protected by law.
