Job description

Vice President Of Business Development

PurEnergy is a veteran asset management firm with 20+ years' experience managing and enhancing power generation, transmission and other infrastructure projects. We provide a full suite of asset management and financial services on behalf of owners, lenders and other critical stakeholders. Today's power generation projects face an increasingly complex array of management challenges. Many plants are in trouble or underperforming. Others are seeking new ownership or management. Most all of them are impacted by difficult market conditions in one way or another. Whatever the situation, PurEnergy can help.

At NAES, you'll find engaging and challenging career opportunities in the power generation, renewable energy and industrial construction industry. At every level of the company, we share a common goal: To instill confidence in our clients through our steadfast commitment to safety, integrity and quality of work.

NAES is largest independent operator of power facilities in the industry, operating more than 190 power plants throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico and the UK that span all technologies and provide over 49 GW of capacity. With the strength of 4000 people, our growing family of companies now addresses the entire life cycle of power generation and other industrial plants.

The Vice President of Business Development ("VP") is responsible for leading PurEnergy's growth strategy through the identification, qualification, pursuit, and capture of new business opportunities across the North American infrastructure market. The position owns revenue growth, strategic account development, and executive-level customer relationships while partnering closely with executive leadership to expand PurEnergy's market presence and support the retention of current customers. The VP serves as the business development leader for the entirety of PurEnergy's product offerings which spans advisory work, restructuring/turnarounds, regulatory compliance, decommissioning, financial services, construction oversight, special projects, operations and maintenance oversight, and asset management.

Primary duties include:

  • Support and execute PurEnergy's annual business development strategy as determined by PurEnergy executive leadership.
  • Own annual bookings, pipeline growth, customer relationships, and strategic account objectives.
  • Build and maintain a healthy prospect funnel by developing approximately 50-70 strategic customer relationships annually.
  • Provide executive-level forecasting and sales reporting.
  • Interface and work with NAES' subsidiary business development resources and commercial team.
  • Develop, qualify, and pursue new customer opportunities.
  • Support the closing of complex multi-year service agreements.
  • Meet or exceed targets for new sales each year.
  • Maintain current customer relationships and develop a knowledge base of business opportunities on which they are pursuing/executing.
  • Build executive relationships with utilities, independent power producers, public power agencies, infrastructure investors, private equity firms, OEMs, EPC contractors, developers, industrial customers, and hyperscale data center operators.
  • Lead outreach, customer relationship development, support proposal, and RFP submissions.
  • Represent PurEnergy and NAES at industry conferences and executive customer meetings.
  • Identify and develop opportunities in conventional generation, renewable generation, distributed generation, industrial markets, behind-the-meter resources, and data center power infrastructure.
  • Evaluate and make recommendations on entering adjacent markets, developing strategic partnerships, and new service offerings.
  • Provide market intelligence and competitive analysis for executive leadership.
  • Lead cross-functional pursuit teams across PurEnergy and other NAES subsidiaries.
  • Mentor PurEnergy staff on business development best practices and support organizational growth.
  • Promote a culture of collaboration, accountability, and customer focus.

Reports directly to the Senior Vice President of PurEnergy and works collaboratively with executive leadership, NAES business development peers, legal, commercial, marketing, and communications teams and other NAES subsidiaries.

Compensation: $201,600 to $231,000

  • 10+ years leading business development, commercial, or strategic growth functions.
  • Demonstrated success originating and closing complex multi-million-dollar service agreements.
  • Established executive relationships across utilities, IPPs, investors, developers, and industrial markets.

Specific Skills and Knowledge:

  • Deep understanding of asset management, power generation, commercial operations, and energy infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of conventional generation, renewables, distributed generation, industrial processes, energy storage, and data center power markets.
  • Exceptional executive communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Strong financial, commercial, and strategic planning acumen.
  • Ability to lead multiple complex pursuits simultaneously while delivering predictable growth.
  • Experience with CRM systems, pipeline management, and executive reporting.
