Job Summary

Under the direction of the IT/OT Superintendent, the Operations Technology (OT) Supervisor oversees the maintenance, reliability, cybersecurity, and continuous improvement of the site's operational technology systems, including industrial control systems, process control networks, communications infrastructure, and related instrumentation. This role provides technical leadership for OT operations, supervises daily support activities, leads OT projects, manages contractors and vendors, and partners with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, IT, and corporate teams to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation of critical systems. The OT Supervisor is responsible for minimizing downtime, optimizing system performance, supporting commissioning activities, and ensuring compliance with safety, cybersecurity, regulatory, and change management requirements.

Essential Functions

  • Supervise the daily operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and support of OT systems, industrial control networks, communications systems, and field instrumentation supporting mine, mill, filter plant, and site operations.
  • Lead OT projects including installation, configuration, commissioning, upgrades, and optimization of control systems, industrial networks, instrumentation, automation platforms, and communications infrastructure.
  • Support and maintain PLCs, DCS, HMI, SCADA, industrial networks, MCCs, VFDs, PID loops, process instrumentation, sensors, analytical devices, automated valves, and related control equipment.
  • Ensure the reliability, availability, performance, and cybersecurity of OT systems through preventive maintenance, incident response, risk management, and continuous improvement.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex electrical, instrumentation, automation, networking, communications, and control system issues to minimize downtime and improve operational performance.
  • Support commissioning, startup, optimization, calibration, and maintenance of process control systems and instrumentation.
  • Support and coordinate maintenance of Leaky Feeder and VHF/UHF radio systems, including repeaters, antennas, dispatch interfaces, vendors, and communications infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, IT, corporate teams, and vendors to support operational priorities, reliability, safety, and business objectives.
  • Provide technical leadership by mentoring team members, coordinating contractors, prioritizing work, and ensuring quality execution.
  • Interpret electrical drawings, schematics, loop diagrams, P&IDs, network diagrams, technical manuals, and vendor documentation.
  • Maintain accurate documentation for OT systems, work activities, configuration changes, procedures, incidents, and CMMS work orders.
  • Participate in audits, inspections, incident investigations, risk assessments, reliability reviews, and technology evaluations to improve system performance and compliance.
  • Identify opportunities to improve reliability, reduce risk and cost, standardize systems, and optimize OT performance.
  • Ensure compliance with HSE policies, electrical codes, cybersecurity standards, change management practices, and safe work procedures, including lockout/tagout and electrical isolation.
  • Maintain safe, organized work areas and communicate technical issues, project status, and recommendations to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree, diploma, or equivalent technical training in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Automation, Electrical, Instrumentation, Industrial Controls, Telecommunications, Industrial Networking, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
  • Electrical or Instrumentation Journeyman certification, industrial controls training, telecommunications training, or equivalent technical experience preferred.
  • 5–8 years of relevant technical experience in OT, automation, electrical, instrumentation, industrial networking, telecommunications, process control, mining, milling, or heavy industrial environments.
  • 2–3 years of supervisory, lead, or technical leadership experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated expertise with OT systems including PLCs, SCADA, DCS, HMIs, industrial networks, automation platforms, process control systems, communications systems, and asset management platforms.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, motor controls, industrial power distribution, MCCs, VFDs, instrumentation, calibration, and troubleshooting practices.
  • Experience maintaining, troubleshooting, upgrading, and optimizing automation, process control, industrial networking, communications, and operational technology systems in mining or industrial operations.
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity frameworks, compliance requirements, and cybersecurity best practices for OT and industrial control system environments.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, loop diagrams, P&IDs, technical manuals, network diagrams, communications drawings, and control system documentation.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, problem-solving, communication, teamwork, and leadership skills.
  • Familiarity with CMMS systems such as JDE or similar platforms and Microsoft Office tools.
  • Knowledge of networking, telecommunications, systems integration, change management principles, safety regulations, and industry standards applicable to mining or industrial operations.
  • Knowledge of MSHA/OSHA regulations, safe electrical work practices, and mining or industrial safety requirements preferred.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety leadership, regulatory compliance, continuous improvement, and operational reliability.
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in all seasons and in production environments requiring personal protective equipment.
  • Valid driver’s license and authorization to work in the U.S. required.
