Manager: Government Relations

We are seeking a talented professional responsible for helping advance federal policy priorities that affect radiology, imaging research, technology innovation, and patient care. The Manager: Government Relations is ideal for a public policy or government relations professional who can monitor complex legislative and regulatory developments, translate policy issues into clear member-facing communications, and provide strong project coordination for a growing advocacy function.

As part of a small, high-impact team, this role will partner with the Director: Government Relations in strengthening RSNA's federal advocacy presence, coordinating engagement with policymakers and partner organizations, and ensure RSNA members and leaders have timely, accessible, and actionable information on priority policy topics. The Manager: Government Relations will spearhead the Department's communications strategy, coordinating efforts across multiple channels to elevate the visibility and credibility of RSNA advocacy, while serving as the primary owner of advocacy operations, maintain the systems and workflows needed to drive Department priorities, coordinate deliverables, and demonstrate progress and impact.

What you'll do:

Policy monitoring, research, and analysis: Monitor and analyze federal legislative, regulatory, and agency developments relevant to RSNA priorities; translate complex policy information into clear summaries, memoranda, reports, and other tools that support proactive engagement, timely advocacy, and informed decision-making.

Strategic communications: Collaborating with RSNA's Public Information and Communications team, lead RSNA Government Relations communicationsincluding the monthly RSNA Washington Update e-newsletter, web content, social media language, and internal updatesto translate complex policy developments into timely, accessible information that informs members, supports leadership and volunteer engagement, and strengthens the visibility and credibility of RSNA advocacy.

Advocacy and stakeholder engagement: As part of the Government Relations team, support RSNA's engagement with congressional offices, federal agencies, partner societies, coalitions, and other stakeholders by helping to identify opportunities for RSNA members to inform federal policy development, prepare briefing and advocacy materials (e.g. testimony; talking points; issue briefs; etc.), facilitate meeting logistics, and represent RSNA at relevant policy convenings as appropriate.

Committee and department operations: Along with the Director of Government Relations, serve as a staff liaison for the RSNA Government Relations Committee. Manage the systems, workflows, and coordination needed to support the Government Relations Committee and department priorities, including meeting preparation and follow-up, SharePoint resource management, internal reporting, project timelines, and status tracking that keep activities organized, visible, and aligned with RSNA goals.

What you'll need:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in health or public policy; science; political science; or related field.

Experience:

  • 35 years of relevant professional experience in government relations, public policy, advocacy, health policy, science policy, legislative affairs, regulatory affairs, congressional or agency affairs, or the nonprofit medical/scientific association space; minimum of three years required.

Skills:

  • Strong understanding of federal legislative and regulatory processes and entities (e.g. U.S. Congress; Department of Health and Human Services; Food and Drug Administration; National Institutes of Health; etc.)
  • Excellent research, analysis, and project management skills
  • Superb verbal and written communication abilities
  • Demonstrated ability to build effective working relationships and communicate confidently with physicians, researchers, policymakers, senior staff, and external partners

Additional:

  • Ability to work independently in a fully remote environment while communicating proactively and collaborating effectively with a small team.
  • While RSNA Government Relations team members are based in Washington, DC, the organization's headquarters and the majority of its staff are based in Oak Brook, IL. Occasional travel to Illinois required.
  • Travel and attendance at in-person events and meetings in the metro DC area required.
