Project Engineer
The Project Engineer will assist the project team in managing various aspects of heavy civil construction projects in Abilene, TX, ensuring successful project delivery.
Job Responsibilities:
- Assist Project Managers and Superintendents in planning, executing, and closing out heavy civil construction projects.
- Review and interpret project drawings, specifications, and other contract documents.
- Develop and maintain project schedules, track progress, and identify potential delays.
- Prepare and process submittals, RFIs (Requests for Information), and change orders.
- Conduct quantity take-offs and assist with cost control and budget management.
- Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure timely and efficient project execution.
- Participate in project meetings, take minutes, and distribute relevant information to stakeholders.
- Perform site visits to monitor progress, ensure quality control, and address any field issues.
- Prepare daily reports, progress reports, and other project documentation.
- Assist in ensuring compliance with safety regulations and quality standards.
- Support the project closeout process, including punch list completion and final documentation.
Job Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- 1-3 years of experience in heavy civil construction projects preferred.
- Strong understanding of construction processes, methods, and materials.
- Proficiency in construction software (e.g., Primavera P6, HCSS HeavyJob, Bluebeam, AutoCAD) is a plus.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and contracts.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites as needed.
