Job description

Project Engineer

As a Project Engineer at Exmar Offshore, you'll play a central role in bringing large-scale offshore projects to life, connecting technical teams, managing critical workflows, and ensuring every moving piece aligns from concept to completion.

You'll partner with engineers, contractors, and stakeholders across disciplines to:

  • Keep projects on track through schedule management and deliverable tracking
  • Translate technical challenges into actionable solutions
  • Drive data-informed decision-making through reporting and performance analytics
  • Support seamless collaboration across teams and systems

The ideal Project Engineer is a detail-oriented problem solver who thrives in complex, fast-paced project environments. With a strong technical foundation and natural organizational skills, you bring structure to moving parts and clarity to ambiguity.

You're at your best when collaborating across teams: connecting engineers, vendors, and stakeholders to keep projects aligned and progressing. You're comfortable working with data, building tools, and translating insights into action, all while managing multiple priorities with precision.

Success in this role comes from your ability to:

  • Balance technical understanding with project coordination
  • Communicate clearly across cross-functional teams
  • Stay organized and proactive in dynamic, deadline-driven environments
  • Leverage data to track performance and drive decisions
  • Take ownership while knowing when to escalate and problem-solve

If you enjoy being the person who keeps everything moving, and improving, this Project Engineer role is built for you.

What You'll Do:

  • Leverage a technical background to support the accurate identification, definition, communication, and resolution of project engineering challenges.
  • Act as a liaison between engineering teams, contractors, vendors, and project stakeholders to ensure accurate and timely exchanges of technical data.
  • Understand the project engineering workflow to support the development and management of multi-disciplinary schedules, including the critical path method.
  • Track and expedite project deliverables towards timely completion.
  • Evaluate resource allocation and validate the planning thereof.
  • Support project performance measurement and monitoring activities and identify risks for further attention and mitigation.
  • Develop and maintain accurate Excel tools to organize data, and to calculate metrics such as key performance indicators.
  • Generate reports and dashboards that clearly and concisely summarize topics such as project progress, including effective data visualization (e.g., charts, graphs).
  • Independently troubleshoot issues and, when appropriate, exercise good judgement to escalate problems as appropriate.
  • Track, expedite, and closeout Classification Society findings.
  • Support the project change management process.
  • Ensure proper file management, including storage, version control, and accessibility.
  • Organize and maintain project SharePoint sites in a consistent manner to ensure that the team has access to the latest project information including onboarding guides, organization charts, contact lists, etc.
  • Provide administrative support to the Project Management Team, including meeting coordination and documentation.

Group Responsibilities:

  • Establish and implement project management processes to effectively plan, coordinate, execute, and closeout projects.
  • Ensure coordination between disciplines (engineering, procurement, construction, etc.) to avoid design clashes, schedule conflicts, and scope misalignments.
  • Define, assign, track, and expedite project actions.
  • Support Management of Change process definition and implementation.
  • Monitor project risks and challenges, develop mitigation strategies, and escalate critical concerns to project leadership.
  • Provide accurate, timely reporting on project status, trends, and forecasts to inform decision-making and project management efforts.
  • Ensure the effective use of project management tools (e.g., the in-house tool P-EX) and promote data integrity, user adoption, and system optimization.
  • Foster a collaborative team culture by facilitating regular coordination meetings, workshops, and reviews between involved parties.
  • Ensure compliance with project requirements as applicable to project management.
  • Continuously improve project processes and practices through lessons learned, feedback loops, and process refinement across projects.
  • Support overall project delivery goals by minimizing delays, reducing rework, and enhancing communication across all interface points.

What We Are Looking For:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Technical, Management, or related fields
  • 2+ years of experience within an engineering environment.
  • Experience working in the oil and gas industry.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (i.e., advanced skills including formulas, pivot tables, graphing, data analysis, and reporting).
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Teams and Outlook for communication, scheduling, and collaboration.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to work collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Fluent in written and verbal English. Other languages are assets.
  • A valid Driver's License.

Preferred Skills & Experience:

  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word, and PowerPoint, Visio, Power BI, or similar tools used for data management and reporting, expert level excel is a plus
  • Experience with offshore floating units (e.g., FPU, FPSO, MODU) is a strong plus.
