Job description
A leading multidisciplinary engineering and consulting firm is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join the team. The company provides engineering, design, and consulting services across multiple practice areas, including infrastructure, utility services, environmental health sciences, and buildings and program management. The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for planning, administering, and designing mechanical HVAC, energy, and plumbing projects for commercial, industrial, educational, and governmental buildings.

Location: Albuquerque, NM
Type of Position: Direct Hire

Responsibilities:
  • The successful candidate will plan, administer and design mechanical HVAC, energy and plumbing projects.
  • Review work for the application of sound professional judgment and code compliance.
  • Establish and maintain client relationships; ensure client satisfaction; ensure client objectives are met.
  • Responsible for marketing, writing proposals, winning work, maintaining and developing key client relationships.
  • Participate in client-rich professional organizations and functions.
  • Train and mentor young professionals.
  • Perform design and energy calculations and prepare equipment or material specifications.
  • Familiar with the AE design process and specifications leading to construction documents.
  • Prepare graphical representations of designs.
  • Assignments require the investigation of a limited number of variables and supervisory assistance is provided on unusual problems.
  • May supervise or coordinate the work of designers and other technical support personnel.
  • Experience in the design of commercial, industrial, educational, and governmental buildings, small industrial plants and warehouses, central chilled water and heating plants.
  • Experience performing field work, including identification of equipment.
  • Experience carrying project from Notice-To-Proceed through Construction Documents through Construction Administration, including participating in project and review meetings.
  • Perform other duties may be assigned.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited four-year college or university required
  • Minimum of 7 years of mechanical engineering experience with a background in HVAC, plumbing, controls, and energy design. Fire protection design a plus
  • A minimum of 2 years experience managing tasks, and small projects
  • Solid understanding of mechanical design and construction standards
  • Demonstrated experience in the design of commercial, industrial, educational, and governmental buildings, small industrial plants and warehouses, central chilled water and heating plants
  • Working knowledge of applicable mechanical, plumbing and energy design codes
  • Experience in leading mechanical design team thru project
  • Project Management experience a plus
  • NM PE required or obtainable; licenses in other states a plus; Fire Protection PE a plus
  • Professional registration in New Mexico required or obtainable
  • Valid NM drivers' license required; must meet company insurability requirements
